SUBCOM Folder...on going review(s)...

Just got my biscuit back from Potterma. Thanks so much. The knife is a knock-out!! Now all I need is something to make her easier to grab. I have never seen a knife this small wield such power.
I'm thinking a monkey fist might look good on it. Anyone out there have any lanyard making going on right now?

Aloha Liveitloud!

WooooHoooo!!! That looks like the scale the Master Molester did for me!!! Awesome, I am glad you decided to upgrade your SF!!! I also second SSifu, aka Dr. Snubnose regarding one of the kings of lanyards and fobs and MANY other things paracord: Ghostrider!!!

God bless and keep us posted on your SF!

just got a lignumvitae handled Subcomfolder from the House of Potterma  I can't say enough good things about the SubcomF (or about potterma's work) but the Subclaw is quickly becoming my new fave variant of the venerable "biscuit" :p (sorry Chad ;))
1st pic (the good one!) is Michael's, 2nd is mine

Cripes...Brian bro...you take some killer pics of your awesome knives!!!

I hope all is going well with "everything", and I am glad they brought this sticky back. Mahalo Terry!

God bless and I hope others will add to this thread...;)

I have one of the Subcoms also, and I agree with all the positive comments about it. One area not covered is the great skinner it makes if you hold it with your index finger along the rear of the blade. Just like cutting with your finger! The only complaint I have is that the blade is curved so much that if you cut near the point it's almost like pushing the knife end-on. The Wharncliff (not sure about the spelling) version might be better if you were whittling a lot. Great knife, though, and a real bargain.

Mahalo Pinesoldiers,

Ahhhhh, the grip you refer to is the wicked scalpel grip. One of my Sgt's uses this grip on his SFB when he skins goats. Odd that you mention whittling because my other Sgt. uses his for re-sharpening pencils all the time!:D

Anyway, for SD stuffs, the grip you mentioned makes the SFV's almost invisible...

Just got my first Subcom in the mail today - all black with combo edge - Pretty ordinary around these parts I know, but I'm looking forward to using it. My, those Potterma jobs look impressive.

From what I can tell, it's just two pieces of plastic that clip together. Or at least I think that's how it is?

I guess they are molded in.
Hey Brian ; cool picture
A bit Homeresk with his sleepy eyes.. lol

Got my first Subcom a few weeks ago from Heinnie Haynes - Free postage and next day delivery.) It's a great design and I really like it, I'll probably buy a few more and probably a Trance, maybe a few of the other designs as time goes on. So far I've not really done much with my Subcom apart from get the feel of it and open a couple of packets. However, today I was looking at the edge under a magnifying glass and noticed that the edge near the tip is actually rolled over slightly. Don't know why I didn't notice this before and I'm sure I'll be able to fix it, but I wonder if anyone else had encountered anything similiar. It looks like it has been dropped point first onto a very hard surface or something.

I've found it quite difficult to photogragh the edge, but here's a scaled down pic.

I'll try to post some more pics as thumbnails below.

Having a few technical difficulties with the thumbnails I'm afraid, but here's another couple of scaled down pics.

Aloha Jack Black,

Eeeeeewwwwwwww...that does not look good, although it should just take a few minutes to get rid of. I beat, or had beaten the cr*p outta my SUBCOMs, and none of them got a ding on the edge like yours. However...

One of my co-worker's SUBCOM's had that happen to his because he hit a huge staple on a box, but he managed to get the edge back to "normal" with a few minutes on, believe it or not, my Spyderco White stone!;)

God bless and keep us posted!
