Suggestion box!

I still think a Persian-style blade would be wicked cool. Something with spring assisted flipper opening and a frame lock.

I'd go ga-ga over something like that.

I think a Persian will appeal a lot to the "real" tactical people, someone like Edwood7. The guys that have actually used an edged tool during close quarters battle. I think I'm gonna keep a tally of what people suggest that I think is right up DDR/HTM's ally in terms of knife design. I'll pass these along to Darrel and Dirk.

Bleed, have you seen Dirk's persian? It's a fixed, not a folder, but might be up your alley.

I have seen it, and it's awesome. Problem is, living in Southern California (especially LA) makes it very difficult to get away with carrying any kind of fixed blade. Otherwise, I'd be all over it.

Wow, that sucks. I didn't know cali had a law against fixed blades. That's lame indeed.

-edit- State law from what I recall just stipulates that they must be carried openly. Is that the problem?

That and it generates unwanted attention. On a somewhat unrelated note, not too long ago the state banned open carry of unloaded handguns, effect next year.

Yes. It's not that fixed blades are outlawed, but that one must carry them openly -- and that draws all kinds of unpleasant attention. On one occasion, I had no fewer than three stops by peace officers who had been called in because "some guy was carrying a big weapon in a [restaurant/store/public place/etc.]". It was a big hassle, all for a little Benchmade Nimravus CUB.

And Apec is right -- our state recently passed a measure outlawing the open and unloaded carry of firearms by regular civilians - effective immediately in 2012. I've been open-carrying every single day for the last month in protest. It's a disgrace.

FYI - I am working on a Persian style folder. I am hoping to at least have a design by mid year. Maybe even a prototype. It will be custom to start.

AWESOME.

Take your time, Dirk. It'll give me time to save up. Between your knives and Darrel's, I'm going to be dumpster-diving for my dinner come August 2012. :D

Too soon to see a prototype at Shotshow '12?

We have HTM GH, HTM MM, So i have hope we can see a HTM AXD in that year.. ( and not only me as i think ;) ) (sorry for bad grammar ;) )

Funny, I was just mentioning how awesome that would be on a certain popular social media site. Being subscribed to Darrel on there is great, because it means my home page is full of pictures of gorgeous knives.

I am curious if anyone knows anything about the htm delays. I ordered a gunhammer in the middle of november, and haven't seen it yet. I have emailed Lisa a couple of times, and she has been great, but as of yet I don't have anymore info than when I started. Is there usually a long delay in shipment of these knives? I thought I was ordering something that was "off the shelf," I guess anything that is worth having, is worth waiting for. The wait is just about killing me though. I had to buy a spyderco manix2 last weekend at a gun show just to stave off the waiting pains...lol. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

Off the shelf is a bit of a stretch. HTM knives are midtech knives in the sense that they don't come with the fancy "bling" as Darrel's full customs. There is still a lot of work by hand that goes into each HTM knife. While they are made at a faster rate than his customs, they are not churned out by any means, which is why a lot of times the online dealers will be out of stock.

I do know that his attention might be with the knives he's bringing to Shotshow which is coming up in about a week in Vegas, so that might be a cause of delay. Lisa will be your best source to keep you updated.

I'm just a liaison for the bladeforums community.

anything with a TI frame lock is good with me :D oh and ikbs instead of the assited blade would be freaking sweet. Maybe do a collaboration with Flavio ikoma.

Hey Wolf,
I used the IKBS at one time. We decided to go our own way with our own bearing system. We patented it and trademarked the name MAXX GLIDE PIVOT BEATING SYSTEM
We have a knife coming out within a few weeks from Greg Lightfoot.
It has bearings and works excellent. We had it at the shot show.
This is our first knife with bearings in the HTM line.
We will be offering ALL of our manuals with bearings.
The only knife style that will not have it is the MAXX knives.
BTW the difference between the IKBS and our design is that we use hardened bearing races that we make in house. We find the longevity of our design to our satisfaction.
I use the MAXX GLIDE in all of my Balis and my custom knives every day.
We have a TI version of the Gun Hammer comming out and the AXD 5.5.
Both are slated for a bearing version and assisted versions.
So we will have the goods soon!

BTW THe Kirby Lambert knife is on the hot plate.
It will have bearings and assisted also.
It is a fantastic knife design by Kirby.

I would like to see a full-size Kukri folder from Darrel (ex: Cold Steel Rajah/s but better). He would do it right. Slimmer, lighter, bigger, stronger, faster, he can do it...He has the technology:D.

- Titanium handle w/ some anodizing and DDR awesomeness carved into it
- Frame lock
- "Super Steel" ala CPM; S35vn, S30v, 3v, etc.
- Wave action
- Maybe a tanto-point/kukri variation, or clip/bowie point

It would be "THE FOLDER TO END ALL FOLDERS!!!!

Dave
Pelase post a link to the knife.

Here are two ideas of what I think a Khuk folder by DDR would look like. These are just rough drafts please excuse the sloppy lines. Im certain Mr. Ralph could do a much better job. If it inappropriate to post these I will delete the photos.

Dave,
Nice job!
We could do a blade like that in the AXD frame.
It would be awesome.
Show us what you have. Post it bro!
