Survival!!!

If on my person at that time, Basic 8 or Battle Guard (with small Altoids tin survival kit in the sheath and a firesteel in the loop), Rodent Solution or Rodent 3, a Benchmade 943, and a Springfield XD .40 sub-compact with extended magazine (12+1).

Those are the "best" survival tools for the situation because they were what I happened to have on my person at the time. ;)

Lot of gun talk considering he asked what Busse you'd have.

But if out hunting, I'd definitely have a pistol on my hip... :)

Any chunk O' INFI that is 5" or longer . . . . . Prefer 7" plus . . .

S&W 500 .... Baddest gun in the land ..... Grizzly bears? . . . No problem. . . . Wolves and cougars? . . . . No problem. . .. Loud enough to be heard 8 states away? . . .. No problem!

7 days you say? . . . . I would replace my need for warm shelter, food, and water with 14 bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue! These would be attached to my saddle with tear away Velcro which in turn would be tethered to my belt so that they would always be less than an arms length behind me at all times.

it should be noted that my complete inability to ride a horse would mean that this scenario would have taken place within 15 feet of the base camp, so that in turn solves a lot of problems right there! ;)

I'd have to have my tg crusader and my para pro custom .45 it holds 17+1 and is stupid accurate even to the 75 to 80 yards range it would take to shoot game.

Lol yes!!! How To Survive A Seven Day Ordeal: Mad Janitor Edition ----- NY Times Best Seller right there

If you covered 50 miles on your first day isn't your horse going to be too spent to run off?

I'd shoot and kill the horse just as quick as I'd shoot and kill a thief running off with my survival gear. Never, I repeat never take your eye off of your survival gear unless it's properly secured. I don't take my survival lightly.

If you made 50 miles in a day on a horse you were on an Interstate cuz that ain't gonna happen in wilderness terrain!

I don't ride a horse....I ride a Mule the equivalent of equestrian 4 wheel drive...Her name is Elsa and she is a pure Jumper no need to open gates....when you want to get off her you give her a couple tugs for reverse and she squats down so you can step off...Oh back to the original question....I carry a HRLM horizontal on my back belt and a 5" Colt 2nd gen in .45 LC in my pockets are toilet paper 1 Check in case I need to write a million dollar check to wipe my butt and 2 SAK's with all the little gadgets like scissors and toothpick just in case. Seems like a 7-8 inch blade would be nice but not something I strap to my hip. I have had to walk back to the ranch a couple of times but never more than 4-5 miles stupid horses!!!!

If you made it in 50 miles on horseback then you had to have run across a water source or two to keep your transportation moving. I'd turn around and start walking. Unfortunately my rifle and Busse would probably still be in my pack on the horse so it looks like I'm walking out with nothing but my Freedom Arms .454, the five shells that are in it and either a Buck 110 or Spyderco Endura. Too bad Busse doesn't make a folder. Better walk fast.

I don't hunt anymore and I don't ride horses, but if I'm out in the woods my TGLB is on my left hip, a fire starter is in the pouch of the Spec Ops sheath it rides in, and my Kimber .45 1911 is on my right hip. I also have either a Spyderco Endura or Delica clipped in a pocket. On my back is a pack with other "essential" survival items, including a first aid kit, a Leatherman Wave, a couple of Cliff Bars, several other fire starters, a poncho, a stainless steel water bottle and cup, a compass, water purifier, etc., etc. I don't like, nor do I trust horses! I'm certainly not trusting my survival gear to be tied to one. :D

See if this one works

Hellrazor for me, it's a great all around blade. I'm lovin' the tear away velcro idea, brilliant!!

Not a fan of horses, they're too big, they smell, and apparently they'll run off on you. That said it'd probably be my HellRazor on me, it'll do anything I need it to and more. At that point, I would just walk back in a couple of days and leave the horse, never liked it anyway.

 Hellrazor should be enough to get me back. Damn horse...
