Survival!!!

I don't hunt and I don't like horses. As Sir Ian Fleming once noted, "A horse is an animal that is dangerous at both ends and uncomfortable in the middle." That pretty much squares with my personal experiences as I've had horses shy and throw me based on a glint of sunlight reflected off of the tinfoil side of a gum wrapper or a piece of broken glass. All that being said, I have a drop leg rig based on kydex sheathed NMFSH with a Basic 4 and a Condor dump pouch. The pouch holds a 10'x12' sil-tarp, a first aid kit, fire starter and 100 feet of paracord. I, like others, use the Ribz pack which will carry a minimal amount of food and a fleece and rain jacket. Not trusting horses, I will carry my S&W M&P 10 .308 slung across my back. Depending on where I am, I will carry an EAA Elite Match in 10mm or a 4" S&W 629 in a chest carry rig. When the horse throws me, I will shoot and eat him if he's still in sight and I haven't died in the fall. If not, I will track him, then shoot and eat him. I figure I can stay out just fine for a couple of weeks.

Yea...I was wondering if the horse was ever found?

Funny you should ask.....Stupid Hay Burners always seem to find their way back to the ranch and stand around like nothing happened....Then its too late to put 'em down too many witnesses...:D

Not sure how this story goes, but an old mountain man/miner who dealt with similar circumstances mentioned the dark ones taste better and horsemeat > mulemeat. I suspect neither can be worse than camel...

Never Tried Camel....However I have put down plenty of Venison, Elk, Moose, Hogs, Goat, Mutton, Bovine, and even Monkey and not real sure about some to the Street Food In Saigon or Bangkok (smelled tasty didn't really want to know) but never had horsemeat//Mulemeat on the bill of fare....I'm just guessing it can't be all that bad....;)

Heck...they ate doberman on Walking Dead.....made me wonder what coyote would taste like......probably just like Chinese food?

WoW....German/Chinese Cuisine there's something you won't find on a regular menu....Talk about Fusion Cuisine...

Camel is OK, not the worst thing I have eaten. Horse steak with actually pretty good (I didn't know I ordered horse till later - my French language abilities are not so great), goat is delicious, snake and lizard passable, crocodile is very nice... cat... bleh, fruit bat surprised me as being really nice (boney but nice). Kangaroo is is GREAT but Emu is not so much !!!

Thank you. I sent of a better picture of the swedge grind on the LE also, just so you could use it as a reference if needed.

There is nothing like the CBT
Indeed there is Señor,

The Terror Monkey doesn't have CBT and it's a low riding saber ground knife. Also, according to some folks, they're a tad thicker than the original CBT Hell Razor.
