Survival!!!

Any chunk O' INFI that is 5" or longer . . . . . Prefer 7" plus . . .

S&W 500 .... Baddest gun in the land ..... Grizzly bears? . . . No problem. . . . Wolves and cougars? . . . . No problem. . .. Loud enough to be heard 8 states away? . . .. No problem!

7 days you say? . . . . I would replace my need for warm shelter, food, and water with 14 bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue! These would be attached to my saddle with tear away Velcro which in turn would be tethered to my belt so that they would always be less than an arms length behind me at all times.

it should be noted that my complete inability to ride a horse would mean that this scenario would have taken place within 15 feet of the base camp, so that in turn solves a lot of problems right there! ;)

Best plan ever.

Lot of gun talk considering he asked what Busse you'd have.

I mentioned it because these two items I literally have strapped on me, If my pack, or in this scenario a horse, is lost, I always have at least a pistol and a knife. If I don't have the backpack, I have a canteen with cup and a Berkey filtered bottle on my belt as well.

for me its the Team Gemini LB.. the battle mistress would have been in the saddle :( the Team Gemini is long enough to process some decent sized firewood yet agile enough to make traps an do detailed work.
its also fairly light and the styling is pretty intimidating.

No much love for the SR101 in this thread yet. Its seems to be all about the infi. Also suprised to hear so many calling for a larger blade, I'm wondering about this, I personally am a large knife guy even when it comes to folders, but generally I read many posts with people favoring a smaller knife..my hunting partners give me crap for bringing my TGLB on hunts, the same "whatdaya need a knife like that for". my response is the standard anything I want is what its for.

You all run across this?

And Bossman wins the thread!!! :D

I'd have to have my tg crusader and my para pro custom .45 it holds 17+1 and is stupid accurate even to the 75 to 80 yards range it would take to shoot game.

You make a good point. If I was on horseback (or ATV), I'd probably have my compact .45 Para Hi-Cap (15+1) instead of the XD.

If you covered 50 miles on your first day isn't your horse going to be too spent to run off?

Agreed, was thinking the same thing. 50 miles in one day would more likely mean motorcycle/ATV.

If you made 50 miles in a day on a horse you were on an Interstate cuz that ain't gonna happen in wilderness terrain!

Agreed, not in the wilderness. Doable on motorcycle/ATV though, but then you'd not be without the rest of your gear.

I carry my Hell Raiser Little Mischief (Swamprat) horizontal in the middle of my back always there when I need it...may not seem like a big enough knife but its done plenty of work on Elk and Deer...the big knife went bye bye with the horse but the Mischief it will get me by....

There's a discernable difference is there? Aside from one saying terror monkey on it?

Indeed there is Señor,

The Terror Monkey doesn't have CBT and it's a low riding saber ground knife. Also, according to some folks, they're a tad thicker than the original CBT Hell Razor.

I don't ride horses so if I'm down. I've crashed on dirtbike, ATV, or my 4x4 and I crash pretty good lol. So my gear is around the crash scene, I just have to round it up. I'd probably have a lot of stuff cause I'm the kitchen sink kinda guy when I pack lol.

FYI, HRLM = Howling Rat Little Mischief. :) And it's a great knife!!!

Probably the TGLB or RMD since they have fire starters and strikers on the sheaths. but My main user/abuser is a Rodent 6. I also always carry an Izula at horizontal cross draw and this: I call that my snake bite kit :D

...no worries mate, SR101 or INFI, all good to me. I just went with what I own. I love my R3, use it regularly. We are talking hunting here. I'd go with my HACK warden in Elmax for skinning.... Or a locally made " Couteaux Martin" in 440C stainless. I do believe in the longer blade is better, in a woods blade scenario. Just tell your friends that a bigger blade is a better all around tool.

My, heavy, NMFBM would be on the bloody horse.... And long gone:mad:..... my SOB would, definitely, be on my belt.

Waiting on my BG ASH-1 .... That might replace my SOB on my belt.
Truth be told..... In a survival situation, I might opt for my Fallkniven A1 ..... SOB is more likely to find itself there (my belt) though.

As far as folders are concerned. They tend to be used in a more urban context.... Smaller is more discrete and attracts less negative attention. Also, I used to EDC a Spyderco police. Too large for most EDC tasks. 2 to 3.5 inches blade is big enough for EDC , IMHO.

Perhaps Busse could come up with a 2.5 inches Elmax folder?

TGLB comp finish, convex edge. It will do it all.
Second choice would be a SAR 4 same reason.

I'm not the type to carry a big knife on my hip while hunting since I'm already carrying my rifle( Springfield Socom 16 or PWS MK214 - because I don't like scratching my pretty hunting rifles ), the trusty Glock 23, and a small kit in my pockets with band aids, fire starter, water bottle, etc. Oh, and a sandwich, because, well, it's a sandwich😉
As much as I'd like to say that it'd be my nmsfno I'd be lying, it'd be the HRLM in some excellent Mashed Cat Kydex is enough for what I'd need, i'd just make my fire out of smaller trees.

Im surprised that the HRLM doesn't get more love, come on hogs. If you were stuck out in the sticks wouldn't you want to get in a little mischief, might be a farmers daughter around😳

On the belt:

Clipped in the left front pocket:

The firesteel is a must since horse meat is much better roasted.

Funny, I was going to ask the same thing: here is mine, sans cbt and stripped--I like the thickness and the higher grind... pretty good slicer and plenty strong:
