Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

How true. Let’s not forget the other scale making POS shepardcc. Seems he made a couple sets for Shabazz and he’s getting plugs in his vids.
Not cool.
I wonder if Nick knows about the history or cares? He strikes me as a guy who would want to know and wouldn't want to associate himself with any scammers or general POS's. Just my opinion.

Lets throw some facts out there.
I ordered a GSO on May 2016 and today it has not even started.
I ordered a GSO 7/7in Jan 2016 and today they are not done yet with the preorders.
Now to those that ordered and got their in under a year you either got it before the crap started in mid 2015 when they made knives because they only took orders in they could fulfill in that time. They also did not take tons of preorders in for months and then reopen the books when they wanted to sucker more people. The other thing is you got it from 2nd market as no new GSO 5.1 have been made since the first of 2016
Now the 2nd market is really the 1st because that is what happened to my 7/7 whereby they said in the last quarter of 2016 they were all done and inspected and completed and the final touches or sheathes were the issue. They had monthly sales for the next year it seems where they sold all of the 7/7 and thus had to start over as it was over a year before they started with sending them out again. They don't care if they say your knife should or may ship by a certain date because they always fall back to the no certain date of delivery.
Then the new SK line was to come out and delivered in 8 months and all the fanboys said shut it with the negative statements. They claimed it would make the GSO come out faster and that they had a company making them and they would do the final inspections and touches. No outside company ever got a contract to make them at all and now the SK line is going to be made under the same roof. That was all a lie too as well as $100 for the leather sheaths with no refund on them would be made that never were completed. Yes they do charge various fees for cancellations on Phantom Ware as they have to restock air.
They are getting orders and they don't care if you cancel because they know that millions of dollars will be in their coffers for at least 2 years before most ask for their money back.
They expect it to happen and the GSO are being made along the line with the SK line because they are the same knife. They expect most to cancel the GSO line at some time in the future and then they will just have to send out a few of them and they will send out the SK line to those that waited for them. Look at all the new designs coming out and they are still changing blades styles, lengths, and models to this day.
What model have they completed in the last 3 years is what you should ask yourself and if it takes 3 or more years to get your knife on the 7/7 how long will it take for the others that they have not started. They don't care if you cancel your GSO order because the SK will be their new mantra or they will come up with a new GSO model. They have scrubbed the web of sites that housed negative information so they can rope in new naive people. If you believe their lies it at some point has to be your fault. Here is my challenge to you. Write down what you want and don't send the order in and see if it lives up to what you think or what they say will transpire. They lie about delivery time, who makes their blades, when they will ship in their responses.
To all those that are getting a 2nd you are getting the Pre-orders and they are making them wait till the next batch. Yes some may have flaws but 95% of the ones I talk to say nothing is wrong with them at all. It is layers upon layers of smoke up your wallet area.
To all the attack fanboys I hope you enjoy your F1 Folder they are going to send you.

I would agree with your general assumption, but from just an observer's perspective, it looks like the knives that they put out are up to or at least close to their standards in quality. I say this because of the amount of folks that have jumped the line by ordering a second and statng that they can't find any faults in said "second".

Putting out (eventually) a good knife is likely their only saving grace that keeps the preorders on the books. I'd wager that if word got out that after years of waiting they're now producing crap, the number of new refund requests would tank them with a quickness.

What is happening is most people that order a knife from them don't abuse them. Think about it you have a survival knife but how many times have you gone out there and beat it through things to see if it would break? They could make it from 1095 crovan and people wouldn't know better in terms of performance. Very few will truly test the knife before they need it. I have a GSO 5.0 and all I do is clean fish and sharpen a stick to cook it with. Maybe someone will beat the heck out of their knife on some knotty pine but don't expect Survive to fix it because they can't. Most likely they will say it is your fault. They do break btw.

Curious about the 15% deal, also... (I haven't heard this before... If so, it's another big wrinkle in this fiasco!)
Any product(s) ordered from the official SURVIVE! website may be returned, in an unused condition, within fifteen (15) days of receipt. There will be a 10% cancellation fee on any refunds for orders placed after Jan 01, 2017. They change their plans all the time for all sorts of reasons. The warranty only covers if you are cutting something as all other use is abuse So if you break it doing baton work or prying grubs out then your out of luck. I don't trust them as everything they have said in the past 3.5 years have been lies and more lies.

Have you? Do you have one on order?
Yes I do.

To my surprise I received an email with tracking from them Sunday stating that my GSO 7/7 had shipped. Mind you this has been a long wait as the order was placed in June 2015!

Honestly I am just happy to be getting something as I have been sending them emails every 4-6 months letting them know that I am still waiting. Will post pics when it arrives today if anyone is interested.

Still the excitement has long since worn off and I’m not sure if any knife is worth a 52 month wait.

Other than Randall, I'm not aware of any CUSTOM MAKER who has a wait time that long. I could order a custom knife forged from unobtainium and left over space shuttle parts, and I could have it in a year or less from most makers here and on other forums.
I've said this before. I don't think S!K believes that the number of members on here who they have lied to and treated so badly matters one bit in their day to day operations. They are still moving right along and from the buzz I hear in our world, they are doing quite well financially. It's rumored they only work Mon-Thur as well.
I did see they had some "2nds" available on the website last week. I put one in my cart just to see what would happen and at checkout, the "90 day shipping" warning came up. Business as usual. If you don't have it on the shelf, then how and why could you sell it? It doesn't take 90 days to ship anything in today's world.
Rant over.
I hope everyone gets their knives. Eventually.

I agree. The wait was absolutely ridiculous, especially for a mid tech knife. Hopefully the inbound blade is not a “second”.

I wouldn't worry. Based on what I have seen the past few years, there really are no "seconds". They just sell a batch of firsts whenever they need an infusion of cash.

Dear God. An over 4 year wait. @SURVIVE! Ellie and the whole team, including those they are partnering with (those who currently build their stuff) should be ashamed. It's actually worse than it was before they lost the subforum here.

S!K has never done their own production. The sub out all the machining and heat treat. Basically, they only bolt on handles, sharpen edges and put knives in boxes.

WOW. That is 100% true but seeing it in writing makes it so much stranger. They don't actually "make" knives. They "assemble" knives, sharpen them, and ship them. And the last two pieces of that equation is what EVERY knifemaker or knife company does.
So essentially, they are a knife design and assembly company. Hmmm. Seems that would be easy to keep up with and not make customers wait years for a knife you don't even build. LOL

Personally, I never dealt with Survive! until recently but was curious as to their quality. Having read all the poor reviews in regards to customer service and the several years wait I had two options, order a factory second or pay a premium in the aftermarket. I opted for a factory second. It took a little over one month and two emails but it shipped and arrived recently. I must say it is a quality blade. The jimping is strong the blade is wicked sharp . The only thing I would say the handle is a little bit too slim for my taste. I am a CPK supporter and probably won’t buy another Survive but wanted to check them out. It’s a winner but I cannot justify buying another one if they have questionable business practices and can’t fill orders. They are not Randall!

It's not worth your time to read all the history of their business practices, suffice to say that "questionable" business practices is a true understatement.

Just curious - were you able to see what made the knife you purchased a factory second?

In the past, almost everyone who bought a factory second couldn't find any issues with the blade...not even cosmetic issues. It's one of the major gripes their waiting customers had.

Adam, I am shocked, I mean SHOCKED that you actually received that knife within the 30 days window which as you recall IO was dubious about you ordering in our private conversations.

In the past, as an ardent Survivor! I used to fight some of the same S!K detractors on here like cats and dogs both the meaning of S!K being a Ponzi scheme. I could simply not fathom back then that they were doing that but much later on, the coin finally dropped! I am very happy for you to have received your knife in a timely manner but the fact that some folks like the one posting a few posts back had waited since 2015, is beyond outrageous and a heinous business practice. Enjoy that GSO if you must, but keep contributing to Nathan's / Jo's beyond this point
