If i am doing the math correctly, Jon HeavySetTactical409 says has been working at S!K since 3/2024. He "was offered a percentage" of ownership to "help revamp things" at S!K. He is being awful cagy about his status in more recent posts.

I am surprised no one has asked for his bonafides in knife-making. Of course, let's be honest, he's probably doing the same thing Guy was, bolting parts together and doing minor finishing work.

In an email response to Tyler about completion dates, I told them they could send me all the parts for my knife and I’d assemble it myself. This email received no reply.
 
I can’t speak with 100% certainty on this. However, based on a quick Internet search, John doesn’t appear to have a knife making, manufacturing, machining, or management experience.

Personally I have no sympathy for him.

I find it hard to believe that he was unaware of SK!’s history and if so, then perhaps HST shouldn’t be endorsing a company and or products on his YT channel that he knows nothing about… regardless, reap what you sow.

Last Huntsman Outdoors is another shill supporter of SK!. Saw one of you blasting him pretty good. He's posting with a GSO4.7 he received from HeavySet. Starts the the short with, "Survive! haters gonna be mad".

It's clear he has zero ability to deal with the comments and resorted immediately to name calling. Similar to the Jacob guy.

It's funny how they call you stupid when they can't form a logical response and or never address any questions raised.

He was coming off like a fool. My favorite was him bragging about knowing Jon the owner. Then, saying, "I'm just testing a gift from a friend".

Yes, a friend who is now owner according to you. He deleted after I said, "You can't brag about knowing the owner and then backtrack when it doesn't fit your narrative"

Jon has been a customer of mine for over a year, and as a youtuber he is one of the few who has NEVER asked for a free product. And he is one of the few who could have.

I started covering Survive knives after they got edc4's in stock about 6 months before Jon after having watching them for a decade and having the same opinions as yourselves.

I have a different idea of an ideal outcome here. I too am concerned for Jon.

My ideal scenario is that Survive! fulfills their entire backorder and goes forward as a properly managed business. Managed being the key word. Survive! Has to make money for that to happen.

Yall just had this revelation "they DO have to sell their seconds and sell new knives to make enough money to fulfill pre orders where the money is already gone! I knew it!"

Yes- I said that in my first video. The lending, the management, everything else- parts I'm SURE weren't entirely Guy's fault, much of it I'm SURE was- but yes, duh. If yall had watched my video before frothing at the mouth you might have gotten something from it.

If Survive! can't fulfill their obligations I'm sure Jon will have to go at which point he will lose- and I'll be on board with making it very public. I don't shill for anyone, ever. Your (as a group) accusations were refuted by me only if they were stupid. There is enough to be mad about here without making stupid points.

Finally- when I came back here to BladeForums in the Busse section I was shocked at the quality improvement of BladeForums. I spoke with Sparky who is local to me and I talked to him about becoming directly involved here. As meta has melted into the ground and has taken a staunch stance against us I have made multiple posts and videos encouraging people to go back to BladeForums and almost every single person who had been here said they weren't coming back due to the toxicity. Given the quality and style of the moderation here with Blue specifically who stated a rule and temporarily blocked me for breaking that rule- only to go on breaking it himself and allowing it to be broken about 600 times since- THIS is what is killing bladeforums. I know multiple people who want to like Survive more now because you guys have made them the underdog with a redemption ark.

You are here hoping to help make Survive fail- but you are helping make BladeForums fail- and helping SURVIVE! change their narrative from scam artists into the underdog. That's a powerful thing.

Sorry, man, this isn't a knock against your content but I do not derive much value from knife-related content creators. I understand that a lot of folks do and that's fine, for you and them. It's just not for me. I mostly just use YouTube for music and the occasional time when I misplace the Haynes manual for my truck. Otherwise, I formulate my own opinions on knives based on commentary on this site, through practical use of my own, and on what appeals to me visually.

I'm sure your videos are fine but if I am going to be frank, I would say that your constant push for folks here to go watch your stuff is more than a little off-putting - here and elsewhere on these forums. The Survive saga has been going on for years - YEARS! Most of us have seen the ship sinking for a really long time; some of us were even fans at one point. Their business has demonstrated a repeated lack of credibility, lack of integrity, lack of accountability, and a lack of transparency. Do I wish for their success? No. They have been given ample time, grace, and opportunities. They simply lack the acumen and honesty that one should expect from a respected manufacturer.

Sometimes a thing needs to burn to the ground before any good comes of it.

As an aside, can you point out the rule that Blues Blues and many of us have repeatedly broken? I was under the impression that you and another lad were getting hot under the collar and were simply given the opportunity to cool off for a wee bit.

Since you know multiple people who want to like SK! now that they’re the underdog, perhaps you should recommend they place preorders… that has worked out so well in the past for others.

I am not here to "help make Survive fail." I am here to make sure that new customers do not purchase from Guy without understanding what S!K is.

Guy has been mismanaging this business and consistently lying to customers since 2014. Guy is incompetent and deceptive. Anyone that buys a knife from S!K may or may not get it. The have outstanding order from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and this year.

Jon may be Guy's newest "mark" or a knowing participant in the scam. Regardless, there is no indication that he has the experience or ability to change what is wrong with S!K.

You are trying to convince people that S!K is going to change. There is no evidence that this is happening. S!K is the same business it has always been.

100% this. I would rephrase to say "buy more (from an incompetent liar with a 10 year history unfulfilled orders), otherwise they might go under."
 
I can only speak for myself, but knowing someone’s history of not meeting expectations, then saying “go buy new product so they can deliver old orders” is the very definition of a shill. I think it’s a fair assessment of the video you made.

As far as where Survive goes from here, I got my 8 after 3 years. I had so much faith I cancelled a 2015 order and eventually reordered 2 knives after the move and promise of getting back on track in 2020. I’m not judging anyone who wants a good knife. I’m not judging anyone who wants a Survive knife. But I too don’t want anyone to fall into the preorder scam.
 
This thread is almost 6 years old and nothing has changed. Survive still sucks as a knife company.
