Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

@Goose 7279 : luv ya for tagging me in this clusterfudge of a train wreck, not! :D :P

One thing through experience and having hung around here for several years now, gaining more knowledge; I will have to respectfully disagree with this part of your post:

I still believe they make an exceptional knife...

um no, not exceptional but decent if/when they actually produce and deliver on their promises at their price point. The S! knives are not in the same category as the other maker who uses the same HT protocol (please lets keep his name outta this per his expressed wishes earlier on upthread) simply because I do not believe that the same amount of diligence goes into the sharpening processes and the QC of this maker. There were some complains regarding the S! produced knives to be prone to chipping when processing game and I'm now fairly convinced as to what their problems were. Beyond this, I will not discuss the matter or even try to make further comments but will be happy to share my thoughts via PM as to why I think that the S! knives were/are prone to chipping.

Agreed and referncing a place that despises you is a terrible business practice. I guess we will add that to list of piss poor business practices that they continue to do. Honestly, im not sure how they are still around. I guess its new unassuming people because surely people like myself would never entrust them again with any money.

It's not piss poor business practice when the whole thing is ONE GIANT CON!!! :poop:

Millit seems to be pretty enthusiastic about Survive, and making their knives.
I don't really know Millit, but I've only heard good things, seems like a strange cooperation given SKs reputation.

Simple.. $$$$
But I wouldn't deal with a company that deals directly with a ponzi scam anymore than I would from one that sells stolen goods on the side.

I'd be interested in that chipping info Casino, thx.

IN THE FINISHING STAGES:
(In the SURVIVE! Workshop: being finished, sharpened, built, and packed up)
  • GSO-4.1: Preorders from June, July, and August 2015 are being worked on and shipped! We will be working on completing Preorders over the next few months.
  • GSO-7/7: Starter Orders are all completed! More Preorder blades are being surface finishing and built this month. Preorders from May 2015 are shipping. Preorders are being worked on and shipped alongside the GSO-4.1 Preorders.

These dates sum up what's going on...4 years after the pre-orders and they are still trying (..well..you know what i mean ;)) to catch up with these orders, while they have sold God knows how many factory 2nds and a few ugly betties (that just had to take of their glasses off)

I 'salute' them for having the guts to even write these on their website / chain emails and still find people willing to give them money!

The 4 Limited was promised as a quick, couple of months production since they were existing knives that didn't meet spec for another model (originally to be the GSO4 scandi). They just needed a face lift and would be adapted for a new pattern....

Survive's possible response (theoretical reading!): "Well, it seems that a lot of people here just have a negative attitude towards our company and no matter what we do to please them, they stick to their ego-driven bitter response against us, that's based on thin claims. Nothing we've ever done warrants such attitude!
Nonetheless, i want to inform you that the new workbench that will allow us to adapt the GSO 4 scandi to the 4 limited is about to be delivered to us, at last. It seems that the wood we ordered was really soaked after a really bad winter and it needed two years to thoroughly dry. Please allow us some time to fine-tune the process as we thrive...ahem...i meant strive to deliver only the best 2nds to you.''

I would recommend that new buyers not deal with them . I’ve suffered monetary loss to them. Once for a a non refundable fee of $20 , for a demanded refund. Then a second time for a undelivered factory second. Which I have no recourse any longer due to the time that has elapsed. Trust me I’ve tried. I’ve came to accept the money as a loss. I just wanted others to be aware of what you are getting yourself into. That is if you choose to deal with them knowing their history.

Lots of great makers out there that have great knives. Why deal with one that will knowingly lie to and take advantage of their customers ?

...I know who it is!..;)

But in all seriousness, this seems like the road to hell being paved by good intentions. Being involved in a particular heat treat protocol shows that there is a certain sense of forward thinking, but it's not an indication that the business model is sound. I've seen too many great businesses fail from poor financial management. Buyer beware.

So would I if you could send it to me.
Thanks

D3V and the older 3V HT tweaks, none industry standard 3V HT, must be sharpened very very slowly if using the belt. I speculate that if certain units were sharpened at much higher RPMs, not following the recommended protocol, their edges could become susceptible to burn spots and therefore chipping and damage during hard use.

Exactly. No indication of the 3 year backlog or specifics about the number of models in front of this blade that is starting production next month. Here's the latest production schedule - also from their website. We can speculate all we want, but the evidence is pretty clear when it includes their own words and obvious lack of transparency. But hey, production is starting on this one next month! :)

  • GSO-4 Limited: Materials are all in-house and Preorder handles have all been microtextured! We are working on fulfilling the first batch of Preorders now!
  • GSO-3.5: Some handle materials have arrived and are being added to the machining schedule! Once we have sample sets of handles, sheath production can get setup. Some blades will be surface finished this month.
  • Weekly Sales orders are being worked on alongside preorders and presale orders (This includes Factory 2nds and Ugly Betty knives). The last of the Weekly Sales orders will be shipped this month!
*Remaining blades, Factory 2nds and Ugly Betty knives will be made available as part of our Monthly Sales, as we come across them while working on fulfilling existing preorders.

***Please note: There is a lot going on in the SURVIVE! Workshop these days. We are doing our best to get through existing preorders, but it will take several weeks from when preorders for a particular model start shipping out, until they are all fulfilled.***

IN PRODUCTION:
  • SK-3.5: In Production, completion TBD. Blades are in the final stages of production and handle materials have started to arrive. Check back for regular updates!
  • GSO-12 / SK-12: In Production, blades are in the process of being heat treated. Handle design has been completed!
  • GSO-6 / SK-6: is morphing from sheets of steel into actual blade blanks at the waterjet!

I would call it more utter disdain for their customers intelligence than guts, who would order a knife from a maker that is no where near custom and deliveries are just now beginning 4 years later? How long can it possibly take to water jet a blade, sharpen it and then attach some scales not to mention how many other models that are still years behind and not any nearer to being delivered.

I just really wonder what are they doing all day? You see some 2nd's, etc, trickling out of their shop from time to time but not much else to show for the last few years

They only trickle out something to keep the Delta 3 Handcuffs off their ponzi scam they are pulling on the people. Anybody that ordered a 2nd really got a preorder that was suppose to ship in 3 weeks according to their post on FB in 2016. The same will happen to those that ordered a GSO 6 , 8 , 10, and 12 but it gets worse. When they make the GSO they will send them out as the SK line then the 2nds will go out first on them too and it will be a loan that they make lots of money off of and never have to send the orginals out because 95% of the people will ask for their money back after 3 years of waiting. The vaporware never has to be made in bulk because they will say they fulfilled orders and in the mean while they made stacks of cash while working only a day or two a week. Heck do they never send out more than 12 knives at a time. The GSO 5.1 has been taking orders for over 3 years and they are just laughing all the way to the bank. I really wish the people would call the AG in ID and in their state about these liars and crooks.
