Survive! Knives Heads Up

Yea, it's a shame what happened to Gerber. There was a time when they actually made a pretty decent blade. I guess that is just what happens when you try to put quantity over quality in the knife world.
I think they're biggest downfall was shifting 90% off their manufacturing to China..Gerber USA can put out a good blade, but there qc is all over the board...the strong arm is an excellent blade, if you get a good one...my first had a great edge and was fine until I ordered a kydex sheath and discovered my blade was bent...factory defect which Gerbers warranty covered no questions asked..6 weeks later I had a new one, but this one came with an edge that would made an ax look acute...ridiculously thick edge at around 50° per side...I tried thinning it down but at 25- 30° per side I had a bevel over a ¼"wide...and still needed to remove more to get to close to 20°...I ended up just convexing the hell outta it and sold the Damn thing.

It's funny thou Gerber has gotten a horrible rep from the junk they've pumped out, but then go and make the Gerber legend and put a $750 price tag on it thinking people are gonna dump that coin on a Gerber LMAO...I could pre order several S!K's for that kinda coin and have knives that can be used.

LOL I just looked the "legend" up.... wow.... these guys have some huge you know whats charging that much for a production knife with their reputation.

Yea, Smokey mountain knife works had one and I checked it out to see if I could pin point where they determined the price..... The nicest thing on it was the scales, but the ergonomics sucked imo..The grind was HORRIBLY done, lop sided tip, uneven bevels side to side , the bevels were wavy , you'd think it would be hand sharpened for that price lol

Idk I couldn't figure out what justified such a price.

It is too bad, my old scout knife was a made in USA gerber gator, not the best of knives by today's standards but was cool at the time. When I got back into knives as an adult, I went straight back but was disheartened by what I found (shakes head) my daily use multi tool is an old black oxide all metal # ... Oh well

Where? I am in the market for a 4.1 and/or 3.5. I have funds

I was working on a 3.5 and was ready to pay his asking price but he changed his mind. [emoji107]

Someone snatched it up pretty quickly. $160 was a honest price for it.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for you in the future bud.
