Survive! knives

The plan for the machete variant at 1/8" thick is definitely S7. The steel is already purchased for that initial run.

Being that it isn't really any less expensive to grind a huge, 5/16" thick knife in S7 over CPM-3V, I am honestly just thinking about making the heavy chopper variant in CPM-3V.

Hmm - his post in this thread said S-7....guess I'll have to wait and see <shrug>

Sign me up for a 3V machete. I have not been super impressed with S7 at all.

Here is another update from Guy on Facebook about factory 2nds.

Just a reminder of our factory 2nds area at the new SURVIVE! website. Right now we have some sweet cosmetic blemish GSO-4.1s available at a $20 discount. In this case the rough rolled steel sheets were slightly thinner and a bit of the rough surface wasn't quite removed during double disc surface grinding. In the photo is a worst case blade, which is still not very noticeable at all. Learn more here: http://surviveknives.com/potluck/factory-2nds/gso-4-1-factory-2nd.html

I just wanted to add a little info from my point of view about the factory 2nds. When I was last by the Survive shop I was able to see and handle a few of the GSO 4.1 factory 2nds an they were almost perfect besides a bit of cosmetic blemishing. There isn't a thing wrong with the factory 2nds other then the steel look. I think the blemishing is kinda cool looking but thats me an some others may not like it. If your looking to save some cash on a knife that will be used with the high quality to come to expect from Survive these are them. These are same as the regular GSO 4.1 besides the steel blemishing thats it an they are still a quality tool with a razor sharp edge an you won't be let done. I hope this helps anyone out there that is considering buying a factory 2nd. Chuck

Guy, you should post a drawing of the slight re-designed GSO 7/7 that you talked about. I'm trying to hold myself back from buying the swamprat ratweiler LE.

Any updates on when the Necker II models will be available? I've been drooling over these for some time now!

I'm wondering about the handles for the 3.5. How are they coming along in production?
I can't wait to get my mitts on mine!

I've had to stop posting details of things until they are nearing the end of production. I will probably never post any detailed drawings of my knives again. It's basically a blueprint. Looking at the stats of the LE on the website I can say that the revised GSO-7/7 will still be a slightly shorter blade length, although the GSO-7/7 will be a bit thicker at .188-190". The GSO-7/7 blade isn't as tall at 1.5" vs the stated 1.75" on the LE. The price of the GSO-7/7 in CPM-3V or CPM-20CV should be quite a bit lower and does include a sheath.

Handles for these should be running either over the weekend or early this coming week. That will help get sheaths started and by the time those are finished, knives will be done and ready to ship. It will take about two weeks to get all of the handles completed. I saw a GSO-3.5 comment as well. The basic versions will be running along side the Necker II and the premium version handles should begin around mid week.

I am looking forward to the GSO 7/7....
Does anyone have a picture of the current GSO 7/7 that they could please post up here for reference?

Some really neat looking handle colors are crossing my grinding table. I'll be working late tonight, to ensure a huge batch of ordered knives get out before the weekend. When you're using your new SURVIVE! knife, remember, I love photos. Both of the knives themselves and the adventures you take them on. #surviveknives #owntheadvantage

That's awesome, as my order shows "processing". Wonder if one of those 4.1's with brown canvas scales is mine? :D

Since I plan on using the heck out of this blade, I took them up on a factory seconds. And seeing that I love photography as well, I'll be sure to send Guy a decent amount of pics.

Thanks for passing along the update crazyfingers. I would have never seen it as I don't do social media. Much appreciated, and thanks to Guy for staying up late to get it done!

No worry Straitr there a lot of people here on BladeForums that don't do the social media thing at all. Thats why I try to check all of them out to help those that don't can stay up to date. Thank Chuck

Used my 10 to clear brush during SAR operations in western Washington on Friday. It's so nice to have a tool like that in the field, especially when we're doing grid searches in thick brush. It's my do all tool when I'm on a search.

does anyone here have any extra scales for the gso 4.1? I like my black, but would love green or camo as well....just putting it out there-thanks!
