Survive! knives

Guy,
Have you experimented or plan on releasing any knives in CPM-20CV larger than the GSO 5.1?When will I be able to buy a dangler/drop loop for my GSO 4.1 sheath from you?
Thanks,
salmonkiller

I can't wait for the 7/7. From what I've heard it going to have some slight design updates. There's was this youtuber that disliked it so much.

Yep, we are refining the GSO-7/7 design even more this year. The revisions have nothing to do with the gentleman who seemed especially angry that a tumbled blade wouldn't produce sparks on a ferro rod... He could have just opted to get a ferro notch.

@Salmonkiller, I do plan on producing blades up to the size of my GSO-7/7 in CPM-20CV.

First off, I took some pics but apparently cannot upload them directly from my desktop. Anyways, I just got this in today, and noticed that the plunge lines are somewhat off. Is this normal, and should I be concerned? Also, Has anyone had issues with rust under the micarta scales? Thanks

I'm all over that, thank you. Funny they just joined several days ago... I'll see if they drop us an email. I've never seen any sort of corrosion issues with CPM-20CV and the multi step QC makes bad blades a pretty darned rare thing.

Guy,

Is there a chance you will make some of the S7 blades non coated for those of us that don't care for coated blades.

Tony

Guy,

Do you have a timeline on the larger knives in 20cv?

Hey all... I just recently bought a GSO 6 in 3v, and am VERY impressed. I build and maintain trails in western washington for a living, and have had it with me every day at work. So far I have used it to trim roots off of the backwall and tread, make stakes to reinforce stairs, water bars, and log retaining walls. I also have used it for food prep at camp and whittling after work around the fire... I am also a volunteer for search and rescue, as well as an avid backpacker. I used the 6 to build a fire yesterday after a hike through a terrible western washington storm. We were DRENCHED, and my 6 paired with a folding saw helped us build a fire in about an hour after rolling into camp. It can baton, and do fine work like making feathersticks! (Side note, those of you who claim dry dead fuel can always be plucked from the forest... come spend a wet weekend with me on the olympic peninsula in Washington state! Absolutely everything is soaked, and batoning down to dry wood is your only option! (Or chopping with an axe of course... but that's a question of preference and weight) Anyways, point is, Guy makes a solid knife that I as an outdoorsman would stake my life on! Here are some pics I took from the first week I had it at work! No pictures from the rainy fire unfortunately.. We were too busy making the fire, cooking, and drying our soggy selves off for that :)
Cheers, and thanks again for the excellent tool!

Went out yesterday for a hike and I took my newly GSO 4.1 out with me did not use it just wanted to take a picture . I must say the GSO feels great in the hand . I have a couple of knives in this size and this one feels very comfortable in the hand . I really wanted the green linen but this one looks great with the green canvas .

Now I'm looking to replace my Fallkniven A1 . Witch one the 6 or the 7 . Also I don't really need the thickness of the A1 .

The raw S7 will begin spotting if its just breathed on wrong. All of the S7 blades are coated with Cerakote but I think for you guys who like uncoated blades this shouldn't be too much trouble to remove. All of the features of these blades are still nice and crisp and the spines are very sharp, since the blades weren't tumbled. Honestly with some of the other developments we're working on, I'm not sure how long I'll even be offering the S7 blades.

We began the S7 as an experiment, thinking it might make a lower cost knife. With still using the micarta for handles, having precision machined screws, including a kydex sheath and the grinding being not less expensive to do, the only real cut is in the steel cost.

Finally got some pics of my setup. Handle scales came in today. Sorry for the blur. Cell phone case messes with pics. Enjoy!

Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing your story and for the photos! That trail looks like it would be some really fun mountain biking. I really love all of the photos from you guys.

OK this is a update that was posted on Survives Facebook Page on March 7. I know there were a lot of people that said they couldn't or didn't know how to keep up with the Facebook Updates so here you go.

UPDATE: Another project nearing completion... The SURVIVE! Necker II blades are all ground and finishing up in tumbling. Handles for these will be made about one week after the GSO-3.5 handles are done. The GSO-3.5 handles should begin finishing up late next week.

Thanks for posting the pictures olybears57. I have carried and have used the 5.1 and the 4.1 of the GSO line, and I have found them to be very comfortable work horses that I would bet my life on every time. I am looking forward to using the 7/7 and 10 if the snow ever melts away, and I can stop making firewood to heat my house.

Lots of 4.1's for sale from online dealers. Hopefully we will see some 5.1's and larger available soon in 3v.

I thought some of you might enjoy this video that I put together, of our tour at the Niagara Specialty Metals plant last July:

I saw a comment about GSO-5.1s... Those should be finishing up production grinding very soon. We still have some sheaths and handles left from the last production run, so I should be able to get some limited numbers of them available pretty quickly after grinding.
