Survive! knives

Just got my 3.5!!! Awesome blade, perfect size. To say I'm a bit excited about it is an understatement. Orange g10. Serial number 28. No pics right now because I'm at work but people are going to love this thing.

Just noticed a fine straight scratch on my new 4.1in 3v....I'm just wondering cause it is so straight.. as if somebody used a ruler to make it. It is between edge and "shoulder "... don't know how to describe it better. Can't figure out how deep it actually is. Is there someone with similar scratches on his gso?

I had a few of that on the first run of GSO 10. It's just grind marks that weren't polished through the tumbling process I think. most of my survive knives shows those marks at a different light angle. if your nail doesn't get caught in the groove, you should be good. if it does I'd ask for a replacement.

Yeah, grind-mark, totally random thing and should not affect performance in the slightest other than being a good place for a spot of corrosion to take hold if you leave it wet for a few hours.

After you take that SK 4 around the block a few times, would you mind providing some feedback on the edge retention? I'm really interested in the S7 steel , but I'm debating on holding off until the SK7/7 is released, where the impact resistance of the S7 would be more beneficial to me, and make up for the edge retention concern.
Thanks!

I just posted these elsewhere, thought I'd include them here as well - black-out Survive! SK-4:

The micarta slabs get much darker with a little bit of oil, the handle screws on this one are actually tumbled but black-oxide screws are available on their website. It's a pretty wicked blade.

Scratch on my 4.1 3v (between the red lines)...what can it be?

Yep, that looks like a machining line. We do our best to catch those but every so often one gets past us, like knife chop mentioned, it really depends on the light and the angle you're looking at it. There have been times when I tell Guy there is a huge mark on the knife and he can't tell at all from his side of the bench. Feel free to email workshop@surviveknives.com and we will see what we can do for you.

We are testing out a few different methods to see if we can reduce and possibly avoid those lines in the future.

Will do  I'll try to post a video along the lines of my GSO-4.1 vid:

They're 'on sale' right now, part of a Survive! initial endeavor at a "budget" line. By the way, the FDE coating on the website looks gray but on my other SK-4 it is more of a muddy brown, looks great with the 'natural' micarta scales. I'll post pics later this week. Also intending to post a throwing video.

Would be almost impossible to hurt that knife.... :D

I'm interested in the S7 knives, but the 4.1 seems like a strange model to introduce it on, as I assume it will really shine on larger blades.
