Survive! knives

That is really impressive! The S7 steel looks more than capable.

Nono, that's an older video, M390 GSO-4.1 there. my apologies for the confusion. I'll try to film the SK-4 video this weekend (5/17/2014, etc.)

So how does it feel in the hand? Do the scales swell much? Just curious while I wait for mine to head my way.

I wear a size large glove and it feels perfect to me. I have always been a sucker for smaller blades... this model just hits all of the right notes for me. I bet this sees more hip time than my gso-4.1. Can't wait to hear others impressions of this knife.

Good to hear. I feel the same way about smaller fixed blades. I'm really looking forward to trying this one out. Thanks.

Some more pics of my GSO 6 from this past 8 day spike of trail work on the Hoh River in Western Washington. The 6 is my constant work companion, chopping small limbs, making stakes for turn pikes and stairs, and cutting brush during my work day, and then used for fire building and cooking after work. Still haven't sharpened it after 3 months of use... Won't shave anymore, but has a fine working edge. I am THRILLED with this knife, and find it the perfect companion to have on extended trips in the backcountry.
Cheers!
Ian

Yep, that looks like a machining line. We do our best to catch those but every so often one gets past us, like knife chop mentioned, it really depends on the light and the angle you're looking at it. There have been times when I tell Guy there is a huge mark on the knife and he can't tell at all from his side of the bench. Feel free to email workshop@surviveknives.com and we will see what we can do for you.

We are testing out a few different methods to see if we can reduce and possibly avoid those lines in the future.

As long as it's just a cosmetic issue and doesn't have any effect on the knifes strength and performance I don't mind :-)

Awesome pics Olybears, thanks for sharing. I'm equally as pleased with my GSO-10 so far. Looking forward to more chopping this summer.

Yeah, I'm looking to get my hands on something smaller now that the GSO-10 has sold me on S!K.
Probably a 5.1 or 4.1

My friend who works with me on the trail crew owns a 4.1... He absolutely loves it. He carries that and a zt 301 for work.

Thanks for sharing those pics, olybears57  I miss the trees of the PNW, lived in Oregon 2 years and when I came back to the Midwest, everything seemed small and flat

Regarding the SK-4, just finished a video, will edit and post this week. Here are a couple of pics to show how FDE-coating compares to Bussekin tanker-grey. The FDE is more of a tan, for those curious:

I'm not sure of any alternate sources for the SK4, but I know where you can get a GSO4 in 3V for about $199 right now
