Survive! knives

I ordered a new 3.5 when they went up on the site. For some weird reason I wasn't logged in when I bought it and have had nothing but trouble getting any info on it. I recieved a few emails from Josh and one even had an order # but when I went to the website, the order # didn't work. Payment posted almost immediately. I really love Guy's knives and have almost all of the models, with a 7/7 on the way too.
On the 3.5, I just can't seem to get any info on my order and some tracking info. I explained all this to Josh a few days ago in our 3rd email exchange and have gotten no anser back. Now I'm just beginning to get a bad taste in my mouth about the whole deal. Anyone have the number so I can just call today and find out where my knife is?

Unfortunately, once an order is placed this system won't allow us to attach it with a customer account so it won't show up if you're logged in. That will definitely be on the wishlist if we ever get a fully customized platform.

I'm not sure if Josh mentioned the "orders and returns" link on the bottom left of the home page, it will only show the link if you are not logged in. I was able to pull up your order through there using your email address, or you can also use your full zip-code that you entered in when you checked out. It is weird that you didn't get an email. If you get to your order through the link please confirm the email address so that we can make sure your shipping confirmation email gets to you. Sometimes the emails end up in spam or junk folders, I think because we send so many emails. Hopefully this helps. If not, our number is: 717.420.5977.

Broke out the sandpaper today to work on the convex. While it takes a little more effort than my 1095 and O1 knives did, I didn't find it anymore difficult than S30v or ELMAX. So, not quite done, but I'm happy with it given the limited time I had to work on it and try to snap pics.

You would proceed more quickly if you simply used a coarse flat diamond or SiC hone to take the shoulders down prior to rounding the bevel with a sandpaper strop. What grit sandpaper are you using?
 
Sorry, I was vague, I used sandpaper and a mousepad, then stropped with green and black compound.

Started with 320, which knocked the shoulders down quicker than I thought. Then went 600-1500-strop.

I went to that section of the website and it doesn't work for the order # I was given. Here's the order # Josh gave me. 100001515
 
Have any of you tried flipping the belt attachments on your kiadex sheaths upside down so the tabs point up? It drops the knife down a inch or two and for me makes resheathing a lot easier.

Okay I know that is kinda obvious but I ride a short bus.

BTW Ronnie Hale makes a heck of a nice IWB for the GSO knives if anyone is looking for custom kydex. I carry a 4.1 IWB frequently. It is much more concealed and more comfortable than you would imagine.

Even though I have an invoice for my 3.5 pre-order, there appears to be no record of it on the Survive! site. I am 99% sure that I gave them my credit card number
when I placed the order in Sept., so I checked my credit card statement and there is nothing there. I also checked PayPal. Nothing there either. It appears that my
order fell into a black hole. I sent them an email on the web-site. I'll have to wait and see if they respond.
 
Thanks Hank_612. I made one for myself too. And then I was fooling around in the shop and made one for my 4.1 out of Mirage Holstex. The 4.1 is awesome in so many respects, but now the extra "cool factor" of this Mirage has people asking me about it at the local gun shows I attend (Local sounds small but I live in a city with 5 MILLION people so no gun show is really "small"). Anyway, gives me more chances to talk about Guy's awesome knives and turn more people on the the GSO series and the phenomenal Survive! Knives.

Weird. I have a few ideas. I've found your emails with Josh and will contact you there.

I found my order THANKS to Josh and Ellie over at Survive! Their patience, professionalism, and tireless efforts to help me were outstanding. I've read a few stories about great customer service from some of the knife makers and companies here but the group at Survive, and the level of customer service is TOP NOTCH in my book. Thank you for putting up with my whining. I just wanted my next GSO and I wanted it RIGHT NOW. I'm sure my BF brethren will understand.

My faith in mankind has been restored.

Ordered my 3.5 on the 23rd. Should be here any day now.

On a separate note, I noticed you ordered on the 23rd and stated that you should receive yours any day. Does that mean yours has shipped?

According to the website it just says, "order received", but I was told 5-15 days for processing.
 
So I didn't realize the factory second didn't come with a sheath. Really pleased with the product but I thought people were asking specifically for no sheath to be sent with knife when it's talked about in the disclaimer. Called the customer service and they insisted they listed on the disclaimer but all I found was that they said sheaths would be available in June, when I ordered it, and I interpreted the rest of it as people specifically just asking for no sheath. I was under the impression that these thing came standard with sheaths. I'm not happy with the website or customer service. Whatever I saved on the knife was immediately lost ordering a custom sheath for it. Sucks for me. When I asked what could be done I was told I could return it, which I can't since I already ordered a sheath for it, and that was it. I may have interpreted what was written incorrectly but I also don't think my interpretation was something that's way off. So I'm venting my frustration here and making sure people know explicitly that the knives come with no sheath. Sale isn't that great when you take into account how much a third party sheath will be. Well I've said my piece.

The wording is off, but it's been discussed in this thread and there's always doing due diligence. I can see what you are saying, it just says they have no sheaths, but it doesn't implicitly say that it doesn't come with a sheath. But then, where do you think they were going to get a sheath when it says they won't have any until mid-June?

We are just starting to offer the knives with or without sheaths. When you go to configure your knife to the specifications you would like, it usually asks you what color sheath you would prefer. If there are no sheath options available because they are out of stock, there will be no sheath listed. In comparison, the SK-4 comes with black kydex sheaths and so it specifically lists that information in the product description. Since the disclaimer in the product description may leave some room for interpretation I've added a new product option so people will have to specifically select "no sheath" when they are configuring their product and if no sheaths are in stock that "no sheath" product with be the only option. Thank you for bringing that oversight to our attention.

The product disclaimer does say the sheaths are in production and we are expecting to have them listed on our website in the supplies section. If you follow that link you will see that we will be offering them for $20, alternatively they will be available with the GSO-4.1 and GSO-4.1 Factory 2nds for a $15 charge. The production GSO-4.1 will be listed at $184 without a sheath and $199 with a sheath. As I mentioned on the phone, we can get one of the GSO-4.1 sheaths to you when they arrive, otherwise we do have a 14-day return policy. When I asked what else you would like me to do you hung up so please let me know if you have a suggestion for how we could help you better.

Not yet. The machines have thrown a few tantrums and have needed some TLC, slowing down Guy's grinding a bit. He is almost done with all of the blades though and the only other delay is the premium handles. We have been promised that those are being machined right now and that they will be finished soon.
