Survive! knives

5.1 for me! It was just enough knife and had perfect balance

Agreed. I "released" the 7/7 back to the wild recently. I have a 5.1, DLC coated with a custom Skystorm sheath with firesteel that I am the first owner of. I thoroughly enjoy wearing the sheath and the knife is always at the ready and comfortable to wear in any position (sitting, standing, laying or in b/w).

The 6 may be even better, but could not be much if at all when it comes to balance. YMMV.

To summarize...when a knife just feels like an extension of your hand, you've found an indispensable tool. Not everyone will experience this with Survive! but I have.

Just to dispel any confusion over the varying GSO-4.1 prices...

GSO-4.1 Lottery: 134 base + 10 shipping = 144
GSO-4.1 with the thinner steel: 159 + 10 shipping = 169
GSO-4.1: 184 + 10 shipping = 194

(at least the shipping should have been $10, but many paid $5 because I hadn't updated the system settings to account for the low knife prices)

Upgrades:
Handles have an extra charge depending on the cost of materials
Sheaths, when they are in stock, will be available as an option for $15.

Sheaths and handles are also available as individual products, when they are in stock. Those ship for $2. Those have extra costs because they require extra work and materials.

I could go on with reasons for why we do what we do here, but I am learning that no matter what our decision ends up being someone will always find a reason to say it was wrong. We are doing our best and always trying to be better. If it turns out that something doesn't work out then we will change it.

I did. No response. Nada. Zero.

I didn't reply to your original response because I knew Josh was going to be working on emails and should have responded to your questions. Unfortunately, sometimes things get sorted into spam boxes so I will look around and see if I can find your email today. I also believe this topic was touched on at some point in this mess of a thread. (I've asked about a forum, no news yet)

In the meantime, orders from our old system did not get transferred over to the new system. The two website are hosted by completely different companies, setup by different people, and have no link to each other. We do still have access as well as several copies of the orders on the old website. If I find your email I can use your order number or name to find your order and tell you exactly where your knife is.

I'd also like to take this moment to remind everyone about our FAQ. It won't give you specific information about your order but it touches briefly on this. If there is every something that should be added (or changed) to the FAQ please let me know.

You are basically getting a handmade sheath that would cost around $30-$40 for $15, that actually is a deal. I had no idea that Kiah was making these, if that is the case you have a quality craftsman at the helm. It's a bit different than buying any old sheath that some newbie made. I was looking at the website yesterday as I was trying to figure out how to order a 3.5 in 20CV, but it's not available yet (they are coming I was told). I looked at the sheathes and thought they looked a bit familiar, and the low price threw me.

^This.
I was one aware early on about who was making the sheaths and have always factored in the savings there, and I'd definitely put the value at $40+, the quality is top-notch and the design superior. It's an amazing discount! I am glad that Survive! has stuck with Kiahdex for their sheaths rather than opting for a cheaper alternative or offering no sheath at all, even though Kiah has trouble keeping up with demand. And folk can go ahead and compare what they are getting from Survive! vs BRKT or ESEE or Bussekin or Fallkniven or (insert brand here) to see where the values lay. Keep up the awesome work, Kiah! I want my Necker II as soon as I can get it

Thanks for the reply. I just attempted to send you a copy of my invoice. Maybe that will help..................if you receive it.

The lottery 4.1 was $139. My shipping was $5. And if you get the normal 4.1 its only $184 without a sheath. And adding different colored handles cost extra no matter what doesnt it, weather factory 2nd or not

Yeah, I worked the +$10 for the upgraded handles into both equations, see?
The normal 4.1 comes with a sheath included for $199.

So my point is, compared to buying a GSO 4.1 from BladeHQ, how much have I really saved?
It would be $209 for a GSO 4..1 (with custom handles, and sheath) shipped from BHQ to my door.
If I have to order the factory seconds 4.1 and the sheath separately directly from the site, and pay shipping twice, according to the math I've already done, that's gonna end up costing me $200.

So in the end, I got a blemished 4.1 for a $10 discount? That's not that great of a deal man.
That's more like a furniture store's "going out of business sale" >_>
Based on the "vlog" update, it seemed like they were actually gonna be offering serious bargains on imperfect merchandise because they genuinely needed help moving to a new location.

I'm still excited to *eventually* get my 4.1, but I feel like the savings involved here are not as big as they were made out to be.
If I am truly "doing Survive! Knives a favor" by helping to take this 2nd rate stock off their hands, they could be doing me, a loyal customer, a favor by at least including the dang sheath... >_>

Any idea when the factory seconds are gonna ship out?
I placed my order promptly 2 weeks ago :D

I ordered a "thin" second recently. Is there any way I can get a sheath at the $15 price when they are available? Otherwise I don't mind paying the $20 on the site, just want to see if that will be available to previous orders.

Meh. BHQ is out of stock. So, not even an option. You spring for the 4.1 2nd because you want one now-ish. Seems like a deal to me. Time is money. Paying less than 20 bucks to get it sooner. Not bad?

After seeing all the previous posts I hope the crew at Survive! hasn't been discouraged by the amount of people emailing, calling, and taking up their valuable production time, some of your customers are happy to wait for quality. Keep up the great work!

I will patiently wait on the sidelines for either a GSO 5.1 in 20CV or a GSO 7/7 to be produced and instock.I am 100% sure that I want a sheath made by Kiah with my future purchase.I am not interested in factory 2nds.My GSO 4.1 will hold down the fort until Survive produces the knives I desire.Patience and time produces good things.....

To those who have received your factory seconds ordered within the last few weeks,
Did you get a tracking number, or notification that it had shipped, or anything?
All I've gotten was the initial order confirmation and then nothing since...

B34NS, I kinda see what you're saying, but consider that this whole factory seconds sale was pitched as if I would be doing S!K a favor by purchasing this knife, not the other way around.
I will be a very happy guy when I get my hands on my 4.1, I'm just pointing out that by the time you purchase a sheath separately, you're really only saving 5% or so. Which isn't the stupendous type of "blowout savings" I was expecting from a factory seconds sale, but hey, I knew the deal and I still went for it. Not saying I was mislead or ripped off.
Now I just want the damn thing to show up already :P

When I ordered my factory seconds 4.1 back in March, it was $179, and free shipping. Like all companies, the pricing matrix can and will change with overhead, material cost, in house labor, outsourced labor, and shipping cost changes.

And the last time I watched Guys video on the moving sale, I didn't see him ask anybody for a "favor".

And to answer Rosco's question, yes, I received an email with tracking number.

Here's the video for the "moving sale". Check out the first line in the video description:

"Get ready for some HUGE, once in a lifetime savings."

I'm not crying or tryin to come off as a complainer here, but surely you would admit that 5%, or in some cases $5 after you order a sheath separately, isn't exactly "HUGE, once in a lifetime savings"? Yeah?
The term "drastic discount" was also used.

Again, not a big deal. I am eagerly anticipating my tracking number email...

Guy -

Have the last of the 3.5 pre-orders been shipped yet? Sounds like they were about finished from some recent news.

Thanks!

I ordered the gso10 for 260 that is with dlc coating, and the sheath. Since a brand new one comes in at 350.00 without coating I definitely saved more than 5%. I also got the orange handle (only one available) but was a 10 or 5 dollar upgrade at one time. So accept for missing out on the pre order for gso10 I do thing this is a great offer. Thanks Survive!
