Survive! knives

I think the Necker II is going to be popular for this type of carry. When we get the sheaths in I will be testing that theory.

Sorta. The clips for the Necker IIs are the split style. Basically the same clips as the 4.1s but the NIIs are a bit wider than the 4.1s at the top eyelet position, so the spacing on the clips is a bit wide to go both ways. It's just a bit, so it may be a hair too wide to go horizontal or may work as is depending on how much the material came in when forming. If the hole spacing is too wide, then bringing one hole inward with a round file is an easy fix. Otherwise, a TL or other setup will work fine. They will go angled cross-draw as is. Making the clips like the Necker Is would've made it technically possible, but the narrowness plus the handle heaviness woulda made it flop around. That's still gonna be the case a little bit with any attachment not fitted exactly to your belt though. I recommend paracord, a sewn loop of webbing through the slots, a leather loop wrapped around, ect. for anyone wanting to carry these (or anything) horizontally. Hope that's reasonably explanatory to everyone.

I have two on order, will happily post detailed pics as before for those interested
Based on my cardboard mock-up (:p) I figured I'd try mounting the sheath IWB or just inside-of-belt horizontal cross-draw or normal. If those don't work too well, one might simply clip it into the pocket as I did with the 4.1 in the pics above.

Sooo... I might have my NeckerII's in hand sometime pretty soon...?

I had a "Well, #### me." moment with the clips and had to redo the lot or some would probably already be out. All the pre-order sheaths should be in the S!K shop hopefully Tomorrow. More for listing on the site should be there by the weekend. Don't know what's what on the other aspects though.

The sheaths are just a bit bigger version of the Necker Is with a little around the scale and tighter retention since the weight is mostly outside of the sheath.

Soonish. The spines on them haven't been great so we decided to clean them up before sending them out. But, as you all know, our very capable grinder person (Guy) has been pretty swamped with keeping the sharpening portion of our workshop up and running.

Seeing the way timing was going for us we had to make some changes to our schedules and this started happening last Friday:
Grinding.jpg

I'm about halfway through the Necker II preorders (as well as about halfway through my middle fingernail somehow) and then we will get these sent out to be tumbled and then engraved. Our suppliers for that know they are coming and that they are hot items so I expect to have them back here around the same time Guy gets caught up from all the moving sale orders. There are less Necker II preorders than there were GSO-3.5 preorders so getting them shipped out won't take as long.

Side note, after all the Necker IIs I will be working on the Scandi GSO-4.1s so look forward to those being pretty nice.

It's on that hook, right next to the respirator. ;)

Hahah, all fair points. My Dad and Uncles all agreed with you when I posted the picture to my facebook page. This picture was taken on Thursday night when we were first determining if I would be able to do the work to Guy's standard. When I got the OK I got my own respirator to get my cooties all over.

The machine goes pretty slow so there is nothing getting thrown around and it is pretty quiet.

Are you still working through 3.5 preorders? I know you were waiting on premium scales and had some misbehaving equipment. I have a pre-ordered FDE coated w/ regular scales on the books. Hoping to have it for my trip next weekend...

I guess Halestorm isn't making kydex for survive knives anymore. he's selling some on ebay. LOL...

I dont think Ronnie ever made products for survive knives as a supplier. He does make a damn nice kydex sheath for survive knives and many other knives. He has sold on ebay for quite a while and can be contacted thru the forum for custom work.

So what was supposed to be funny?

Hank_612, that is 100% correct. And I didn't see anything funny either. I take my work and my customers very seriously, and you know that first hand. I realized long ago that a mans reputation is hard fought and easily lost.

Selling a few knives off to fund other blades that I want. Hmmmm, how many on BF have done that?

I would love to do some work for Guy and the folks at Survive but Khia does an outstanding job and I would never want to jeopardize that relationship. I'm only doing custom work when asked, and occasionally offering one or two for sale on the bay in colors that Khia and Guy do not offer. You've never seen and will never see OD Green, Coyote Brown, or Black on one of my bay listings unless it's something different than Guy and Khia have to offer. The bay listings also keep my name out there. I thought these points were a very respectful way to handle my business with Khia and Guy doing what they do.
This is a community here and I'm proud to be a part of it; and I treat others like Khia and the rest the way I would want to be treated.

98% of my custom work is the customer sending the knife to me and I build and send both back. I stocked over 100 knives at one point and it just seemed I never had the one in stock the next customer needed a sheath for so I changed the way I do things. No complaints so far. Occasionally I actually own the knife requested because it's MY knife and I use it. Hope I didn't offend anyone and thanks again Hank-612.

My mystery second arrived today in earth finish. It looks sweet. It is almost like a golden colour. The knife is perfect outside of the grind being off on one side.

It won't affect edge performance and I cant wait to put it to work.. That is after I remove its nice G10 scales and put them on my s90v version of the 4.1 :D

Thanks survive. I really love the 4.1....

Since my name's in here (well, almost), let me address some things.

To Ronnie, thanks for the kind words. Certainly haven't offended me in any way. I do appreciate the sentiment on the color thing, but know that it's entirely unnecessary to limit yourself on choices for my sake. Do your thing, brother. If you need to borrow a blade I have, just ask.

To anyone who may feel the desire to take shots at someone else, please don't. I've been doing this sheath thing for a good few years in one capacity or another and the one thing I value most is the lack of drama. I have never denigrated another maker or tried to promote my work as better. I'm not that guy and don't want anyone else doing it on my behalf. When I started making sheaths I was greeted by Mike Sastre and others with nothing but help and encouragement. I've done my best to follow that example by helping other makers in any way I can (as they have me). The game of life always ends the same way and if you're able to spend hundreds of dollars on things like knives then you're probably pretty blessed in it. There's no reason to spend it acting like a douchebag.
