Survive! knives

For the love of God man let it go. You've stated your position MULTIPLE times and now you're just fishing for someone to agree with you. You've taken over this thread with the same opinion and criticisms time and time again. At this point...NO ONE cares. I'm not typically one to raise a rukus but damn it...what else do you need to say? You like the knives...fine. You dont like the waiting or communication. ..fine. I think everyone here knows how you feel. Lets move on please.

Yea, I do have a trip coming up soon, 3.5 should be here before then based on nice email communication from the survive team.

Lucky you Beans.
From what I understand, people have been waiting a while for the 3.5s, so I'm genuinely excited for you man.
Share some pics of your trip.

Thanks! Pretty excited to see the thinnest knife they make 1/8" VS the 5/32 of the 4.1. Your 4.1 is gonna be badass with that GSO 10! Great combo. Will shoot as many as I can. Got a few trips to the Sierra backcountry over the next few weeks so hopefully some video too.

Anyone here have a factory second???? How is it??

I have a GSO 10 2nd with an FDE coating with machine lines in it.

When it arrived I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. The way to see these lines was to hold it at just the correct angle, in the correct light and slightly move it to get them to show. These lines are only visible as the FDE is thinner/smoother, yet seems to resistant to wear allot better than powder coating like other manufactures do.

If you have ever or seen a striped 1095 blade the machine lines in it are disgraceful, this 2nd would put them to shame. Of course it is razor sharp, cuts, chops and dices everything I have put under it.

As a 2nd I'm more than happy with it and these very very minor imperfections, as it is a tool and has already and is going to continue to get a beating.

I just tried to take photos of the machine marks.... Even on macro I cant get the correct light and angles for them to show... lol

From the blade in general; The only thing I would like to change is dump the orange G10 and replace it with green canvas. I don't mind it yet it doesn't feel like it has as mush grip as canvas, feels good just a little smooth. If I could get them and add liners cause the handle seams a little thin for a blade this size, for me anyway.

Here are my ghetto liners on my GSO 6 and 10 made from $6.00 rubber floor mats.
For me, they really improve the feel of the knives and fill the palm nicely.

Looking more "up town" than "ghetto" to me. Who'd believe floor mats. Super!

Nice. Really liking the lanyard also. 3rd party or you?

I made the lanyard. My daughter got into tying paracord together and I joined in for family time. I used that time to learn a few simple knots. The orange lanyard goes with my Blaze Orange fishing kit but I left it on during the pics. I have a nice mammoth bone lanyard I made that is going on this one.

and which gso knife size would you consider is best for big game hunting? mostly deer and elk. Im thinking the 4.1 or 3.5 in 20cv. what are your guys thoughts?

Straitr,

Is that one of the rough metal seconds or the lottery seconds? Looks great!

Thanks

Thank you.

It's a rough 2nds, purchased in March. Given the right light and held at the right angles, I can see what they're talking about, but otherwise it's not noticeable to me.

Wolverine, I use both the 4.1 and 5.1 for hunting. The 4.1 makes a great camp knife. The 5.1 is big enough that if I got stuck out overnight (that's happened a couple times), I could make a shelter and fire, etc. The choil on the 5.1 also allows you to choke up when processing game. If I had to choose one all around GSO for hunting, especially if there were going to be elk involved, I'd go with the 5.1. Better to be a little too large than too small. Of course, I've seen bull elk dressed out with a Buck 110 before but I wouldn't do it. :D
