Survive! knives

It's a business run by a handful of people, everyone complaining or saying they bit off more than they could chew should just think about that, they had no idea that it would be this intense, and they are doing the best that they can, if you want a knife from them, shut the hell up and deal with it like the majority of people. P.s I would marry the gso5 if the Australian Government allowed me to do so ;)

1. Love my Survive knives.

2. Hopefully, the decision-makers at Survive! will ignore posts like No. 913 and continue to work to satisfy customers' desire for timely delivery. That is the only path to longterm success, and I think they know it.

3. As for "shut the hell up," this is not Whine and Cheese and just who made you God, newbie?

Nobody is wrong for feeling one way or another, or sharing how they feel, but know that if it comes across as impetuous whining, you will be chastised for it. This is because most people find it annoying, and childish. That's not confined to BladeForums, that's life, hence the origin of the saying, "Suffer in Silence".

The writing has been on the wall for over a year in regards to ordering from S!K. Promised delivery dates come and go, and communication is limited because everyone is busy building knives and filling orders, that's just the way it is and it's nothing new. Everyone agrees that waiting sucks, but either decide to deal with it, or get your money back.

If you feel the need to vent, rant, or complain about it, go make a thread in Whine & Cheese.

I think that a Survive! sub-forum would be an excellent idea. Perhaps when Guy and crew get the move behind them, orders caught up, manufacturing ramped up in Idaho, and a plethora of other things accomplished, this might be something that they consider.

I also second the posts looking for Survive! knife uses, modifications, and that epic journey made possible because of the GSO X.X. I love the rig that Hale Storm has shown. That makes me want to go fishing!

I have been a Survive fan for a long time. I have not ordered anything recently because I already have much of my smaller knife niche filled with other very capable knives. In fact thinking about it, I have not carried any of my GSOs in a while because of wanting to give other knives in my collection some love, but after getting caught up here in reading this thread, I think this Holiday weekend will have my GSO 10 and GSO 4.1 as the only two knives I take to the wilderness. I know that I will not be under-knifed with these two in tow.

I also find it just a tad ironic that Ellie is having the same trouble with BladeForums setting up a sub-forum as some of us had dealing with Survive!.

We answer all phone calls, respond to all emails, and monitor BF and social media every day of the week. Ask us a question anywhere and you will get a reply, usually within a day or two. I asked about a subforum a month ago and didn't get any sort of yes or no response until today (he's working on it).

Awesome.

Cripes...enough with the back and forth "I'm tired of waiting" / "I'm fine with waiting" circular conversations. Let's move on people. I wanna hear about some adventures with these blades, and maybe some mods, upgrades, sharpening results, custom sheaths, etc. Isn't that what this thread is supposed to be about?

Any one have a Fallkniven F1 and a GSO 3.5 . I have the F1 and it's a great knife I actually have 2 of them . I thought about getting a 3.5 but stopped my self from ordering is just because I have the F1 and don't really need it . But love to see some pictures to compare them . I might end up putting an order for one .

Miltmaldo, look at post 828. (I'd better check to make sure I got the number right). Mike

Fallkniven F1 Survive 3.5

Blade Thickness at Spine Near Handle: 0.174" 0.124"

Sharpened Edge Length: 3.72" 3.25"

I tried to make a table out of the dimensions but everything was packed together when I saved it. I'm not sure how to fix it and have to take off - feel free if someone else can. Thanks. Mike

Length measurements taken with calipers using best eyeball method. Hope this helps. Mike

Ok is it possible for you to tell me wich one you like the most ;) . Thanks for the post . It's going to be hard for me to justify the GSO purchase . But the thinness and the weight compound with the blade shape plus the steel . Ok I just justified the purchase where do I order one :D .

Yeah, not even close. Guy, Ellie and Josh haven't come on and called you a homo or an idiot loser or tracked down your home or place of business and threatened things yet like some other normally highly respected company owners have done on here. But it is still early LOL.

LOL, what now?! This happens??
Yeah I take it back, THAT is the worst way to deal with the situation. Jesus.

No, some of us actually use our tools to pay the rent. I wouldn't be in business very long if I couldn't wait for one blade in my kit to arrive. Sending $200 into the abyss without researching or coming here to ask others about wait time before a purchase screams disposable income problems to me. Just sayin.

Yeah, I can afford stuff, so I guess I'm not as rugged and manly as you.
I should quit my job and get a job where I use knives to pay my rent, then I could feel like a real man.
Yes, VERY FOOLISH of me to purchase a knife from a well respected manufacturer, from which I already own another knife and couldn't possibly be more pleased.

Hey, how bout some more pics, eh?

Here's my GSO-10 with a Maxpedition Janus pouch, a Surefire flashlight and a BRK Bravo Necker 2.

Hi I am a new member and this is probably a redundant question but I want a GSO 5.0. Will I be able to purchase one in the future? I appreciate any answers and am open to buying a used one.

Check the fixed blade FSBO forums for a used one. They do pop up fairly often. As for a new one, it's 50/50 whether I'd tell you to order directly from Survive! or to wait until you see them on a website somewhere.
Neither one may be an option right now, meaning used it your only bet.

If you want a new one, good idea would be to subscribe to their newsletter / Facebook page / Instagram whatever.

Ya I subscribed a couple days ago. I am not a big gear head but am updating my gear and was going to make a knife until I saw the 5.0 which is basically what I wanted to make. So I pretty mush have the knife picked out now. I put a thing in the want section and will see what happens. Was trying to purchase before a trip to Canada.

One thing I have learned is; Don't base any sort of plans around a Survive! Knife :P

If you have an upcoming trip planned and you absolutely can't wait, I'd suggest picking up something from another brand, then selling it after the trip and trying again for a S!K later.

When I saw my GSO-10 on BHQ, I was a bit apprehensive, I mean, it's $350, but now that I have it, I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on that order rather than trying to get one from S!K directly. Fantastic knives that are a bit hard to get your hand on right now.

Yeah, it's happened on this forum. Look through some of the archived forums at the bottom if you want some good laughs, and you'll realize that despite the crappy situation, the Survive! guys are handling it pretty good.

For the love of God man let it go. You've stated your position MULTIPLE times and now you're just fishing for someone to agree with you. You've taken over this thread with the same opinion and criticisms time and time again. At this point...NO ONE cares. I'm not typically one to raise a rukus but damn it...what else do you need to say? You like the knives...fine. You dont like the waiting or communication. ..fine. I think everyone here knows how you feel. Lets move on please.

Thursday night right before we celebrate our FREEDOM. Freedom to have an open forum like this one where we can disgaree respectfully and still come back another day. Only in America!
How about some pics to lighten the mood?

Anyone done any mods to their GSO's? Post some pics.
