Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

Lol yea I felt weird typing tactical coin purse. Thought my phone was gonna reach out and slap me. Good thing I'm in the stone ages for smart phones and it didn't know any better.

Just catching up on this thread now, should've done so sooner. Really cool to see so many good ideas here.

This is my setup, put it together last summer, so I'm not sure if models have updated. But it is as follows:

- ESEE 5/6 backing for the Ratmandu
- ESEE 3/4 backing for the GSO 3.5
- ESEE tins and pouches
- Firesteels from Grizzly Outdoors
- Hair ties "donated" from my wife
- Paracord and cord lock

Kiah makes the sheaths, right? I hope they're staying with them, they're great sheaths that fit a really wide range of products. Especially if you're willing to have a little give and simply use paracord and a cord lock like I did.

How does the 3.5 fit? The holes line up? I got the 5/6 for my 5.1 there not dead on but close enough.

It's been a long day at work, so my eyes may be a little blurry.

That said, from the inside of one eyelet to the inside of the other, I'm measuring:

ESEE 3/4 backing: 1.75"

Sheath: 1 5/8"

They're pretty close, but then again I'm using spacers, so any discrepancy could be minimized by them. My wife and I have a baby delivery class this weekend, but if I get time, I'll take them apart and give them a proper measurement.

I always enjoy checking out the setups you come up with calc. Those look great.

Thank you! I'll admit that this setup is a bit old, so I'd better get some action shots out to you guys soon to make up for it. The next month or so is as hectic as can be unfortunately, but hopefully I can get out and about late Oct. or early Nov.

I hope it works out for you bud. And congratulations to you and yours BTW.

I'm hoping for some time out the next couple of months too. Can't seem to escape work at the moment, ha.

All of these Esee pouches look great but I'm still waiting to see one of those Condor phone pouches on a 3.5!!
Hint-hint!!

Thanks calc but you don't gotta go through all that I was just wondering if it lined up like my 5/6-5.1 set up. Its not enough to hurt just not perfect is all. Still works like a champ.

I just got home and had a Condor ipouch in the mailbox so I figured it was time to mess around with it.

It fits well on the 3.5 sheath and hold a bunch of stuff. I'm impressed with the quality considering it was only $10.

I tried it with the GSO 6 and it'll fit great. I have a Maxpedition Cocoon and Janus that fits it well also.

The Janus pack is just huge which will most likely equal a bunch of weight. No Bueno.

I'm thinking a Altoids tin with goodies, a DMT card sharpener, a flashlight and spare battery and a firesteel. I had a leatherman in the front pocket but they're just so stinking heavy so maybe a Vic farmer might take its place.
I like this Condor so much that I think the 6 needs one.

I have an unhealthy obsession with Leathermans. That said, if you want pliers with a bit less bulk you might look at a pair of 125mm Knipex Cobras. Far stronger and infinitely more comfortable than any MT, multi-use jaws that lock with pressure, and they open extremely wide for their size. At 3 ounces you'd be at about 6 with the Farmer. Alternatively, the 125mm "Pliers Wrench" is extremely cool, but trades some functionality.

Wow those are some impressive pliers and the weight is almost nothing! I can pair that with my Silki saw and eliminate a few things from the pack.
Right now I have a Leatherman Sidekick and a Juice but they seem to weigh more than most knives.

I finally sat down last night and started throwing stuff into this Condor ipouch. It still needs some things added and a few things removed, but so far I really like it.
I have a separate fire tin with...
Char cloth
Tinder tabs
Fatwood
All weather matches
Mini firesteel and striker
Wet wipes
Petroleum pad

I have a regular Altoids tin with...
Bic lighter
Swiss Army knife
Exotac firesteel
Small multi tool
15' bank line
Duct tape
Snare wire
Clothes pins
Sandpaper
Navigation card
Band aids

Inside one of the sleeves is a DMT card and I packed 12' of orange paracord.
The outside elastic holds a smaller Fenix light perfectly also.
I still have room for more crap but the pouch weight is way more than the whole knife so it bounces around a bit.

Some sort of water purification tablets or a straw need to be added and maybe a small poncho or blanket would be good.

I'll have to find a small scale but I'm betting its pushing the 3 pound mark already. I'm not sure but I think the 5.1 and 6 almost weigh 14 ounces with the sheath. This pack by itself feels substantially heavier but it's a good backup plan if I want to leave the camp for a bit. I'm half tempted to make a kydex clip to mount on the front so it can be removed without all the hassle of having to re tie it.
