Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

Dude that's awesome!!
Now I want one of those pouches!

Yea the only downside is that the malice clip rests against the water drain groove so it kinda wants to go side to side. To solve it I laced it super tight, which of course made it a mild pain to get on. Now that its on its great, Ill have to see how well it stays put once loaded up

I've had similar issues with those malice clips when I put a Maxpedition Janus pack on my old Junglas. That plastic seemed to bend easily when the pack is loaded down then it got all sloppy.

Try some maxpedition tac ties. Their nylon and should flex more. But if your using them on normal webbing they can be a bit of a pain to get on and off. Over all though they hold my gear good so, on and off has been my only issue with them. But once I put something on there my bag or knife kit it stays for a while.

Edit: Nice rig redwood. Glad to see that helped a little. Does it have a single strip of webbing or two rows?

It actually has 4 (see below) It took a bit of fiddling to figure out the best lacing of the malice clip to make sure it would sit high enough on the sheath. I have it half full and ordered a countycomm match case and AAA delrin battery holder to add to it...

OK. Apologies for the rushed ugly leather cutting and the small quick pics. Camera isn't working so I borrowed one and took a few quick shots in the truck. Apparently the resolution was set to "low as it goes".

Anyways, quick and dirty example. Used Tandy snaps, but PTD, Hard Action, ect. snaps would be needed in actual use. Using any type of quick attaching setup vertically would make the snap deal redundant, so there's really no point, but there it is for anyone wondering what I was rambling about.

Okay I see now. For some reason I had it in my head that the snaps (that are on the leather) were mounted to the back of the pouch so that the pouch snapped straight on/off the sheath front.

That could work better and would eliminate the need for any extra stuff. Just back up the pouch material with something. Coated IWB webbing might be ideal. I can make something up like that when I get time. Would mostly be a "see how well it works" thing for people who wanna do their own though.

I can definitely see where the pouch back would need added support. Probably not a mod that is a money-maker. :) Like you say, though, I might give it a go on my own on something that looks like it lines up 'just right.'

Thanks for the info on the snaps BTW.

Fiddling with belt loops, I've got snaps on the brain and a learning curve to travel. I did figure out that if you're gonna set snaps with an arbor press and open dies that a fully extended lever + extension is a bad idea. :o

Well..........this was for me and NOT S!K but the theory is the same. I was in this thread not too long ago and got to thinking about my fire making set up with the Junglas. The thread went the direction of attaching pouches. SO, I came up with this. It would work on any sheath, whether it's Kiah's S!K sheaths or my custom kydex.

The spacers allow it to be tightened down so it doesn't slide around between the molle locks. The Maxpedition pouch holds fire steel, tinder, fuel cubes, and has plenty of room for other gear like paracord, water tablets, etc.

The little BK13 is used for a striker for the fire steel. I put the custom canvas scales on to give it a better grip and it doubles as a nice little utility blade.

I guess I should build one with the GSO 10 next.

Thoughts?

......or a kydex plate can be added for the pouch to attach. That way you have more options with regards to sheath size and can make the holes on the plate match any sheath.

If you need a better way to mount/carry that blade, you should try my Universal Kydex Extension: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1298783-Universal-Kydex-Sheath-Extension

You could also mount the firesteel loop in place of the rubber washers on that extension you have already.

Alright, I'm going to give the UKE a shot (email sent). I just tried mounting a Tek-Lok on my Fletcher Delta 5 and it's no bueno. The rig sits too high for me; the handle jabs into my ribs and extracting/inserting the knife from/to the Kydex sheath is at an awkward angle. With how sharp this thing is I fear it's going to end badly for me at some point. I gotta drop this lower.

Those look great Ronnie. I especially like the way the plates are so clean. Are they a single piece of heavy kydex?

Very cool! Looking forward to hearing how it works for you. Maybe even some pics???

Hale Storm, awesome set up. I like the piggyback and pouch. Now if you do that with a GSO 10 and 2.7, that would really be something :D
