Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

Sending PM, maybe we can make a swap. Thank you sir.

Chris, the forum is not letting me send PMs tonight for some reason. Got your PM fine, replying by email instead.

I think these pics fit in this thread..... this attachment is pretty universal.

This stuff is legit

My only fire steel is a polystriker xl, so not very portable. I'll admit I'm not too advanced in my primitive skills, so this mini Bic does fine

Here it is strapped in and ready to rock

I'd like to do something like this on a bigger knife. I'm thinking I'd add a DMT sharpening card and something for the handle screws.

For sure it fits in this thread, bud! Those bands are definitely handy. And the bic should never be underestimated!! :) You should easily be able to fit a sharpening card and maybe even a fresnel lens in there.

The Bic is my go to fire starter, and everything else is a backup to the Bic. For those of you at elevation, this will quickly prove to leave you without a fire, so have a backup plan.

That's good to know. I'm at 860ft elevation here and it's relatively easy to start a fire. I do remember it being a pain when I was at 6,000+ feet in Colorado Springs a few years ago. I just figured the wood was being a pain even though it was dry.

The Maxpedition strobe/flare pouch looks like it will fit on the 5.1 sheath.

I'll let you know tomorrow. :)

Cool! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.

I really like the dimensions I just wish it had a zipper or at least a more secure looking flap.

I'd want to store pretty small items inside and it looks like the top flap leaves open space on the sides. At least that's what the stock photos look like.

I like my knife to be free from snags when in the woods, but I enjoy the idea though Silver! I usually pack this with a bic as my bic all weather sure fire system. Just a tube of chapstick with cotton under a bike innertube, this holds a small firesteel and a lanyard. Just gotta pull up a little cotton, smudge some chapstick on it and boy does it go! Instant fire rain, wind, or shine. Especially being at altitude, no one wants chapped lips either ;)

Thanks guys! I'm usually at sea level during the week unless I'm in the Sierras where we get over 7,000ft, although most places you can't have a fire above the timberline anywhow. In another thread I was just reminding some of the wonders of pine knots as the ultimate system requiring no synthetics other than a bic or other ignition source.

I like that you used a wider tube Silver, I was curious if it has any affect on the retention of the sheath with it loaded up? Yours looks pretty streamlined, I dig it!

I recently purchased a Condor MA45 "i-pouch" (I already own their H2O-pouch) and it attaches well to my GSO-10 using kiah's g-clip on the front, though it'd be more secure with some cord threaded through the sheath-holes and molle-webbing. The pouch can fit an altoids-tin in the front with room in the main pouch for a cell-phone, flashlight, etc. I'll get some pics this weekend, but here is a stock-photo:

You're much too kind, sir. I should have taken a pic when I had it together, but that mini Bic doesn't add much thickness at all. I'm not even sure what size the inner tube is but it is from an adult bike and is well used.

Where is your inner tube from? Very thin!

Do you stash that little set up in a pack or is it part of a kit?

Small and simple! What a great idea.

My first thought on the pouch was Altoid's Tin so small items would be contained a bit better.

When I got the pouch, the attachment points go the wrong way though so I need to rig up some way to get it attached to the 5.1 sheath. The size is spot on though.

I think I was typing when you posted and I missed your post. Looking forward to pics!!

Also, Chiral or anyone, what are your thoughts on Condor? I've been happy with my compact assault pack for my uses, but I know it's not up there with other big brands.
