Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

Here are some shots of the GSO-10 loaded down with some stuff, as promised, also the Condor H2O pouch which you could easily clip a GSO-3.5 or even a larger blade to, in place of the pocket-knife or flashlight:

The tin-pouch holds my first-aid kit and flashlight, the larger pouch holds a saw (that black pouch) and lighter, small cell-phone, replacement battery for the light... I'll switch out some of those things depending on where I'd be carrying this stuff. More frequently I'd put bug-repellant or deer-scent in there.

Here is a little lighter I was given as a gift, and also the little sharpening-card than came with the Buck - very rough grit for taking out nicks and re-establishing a working edge, nothing finer.

That Condor pouch looks great Chiral!

It sure does. Chiral, what does Condor call the pouch attached to the GSO 10? I looked through their site but maybe I'm just missing it???? They've got something like 10 pages of pouches.

I'll throw this out there, too. Not that it's necessarily an 'attachment' but I don't think I've seen it discussed here on Survive! and that's the Sawyer Mini water filters. They're a squeeze type filter you can use with a collapsible bag or some bottles, and they work great. Might be a little big to stow in the pouches we've been discussing (although I've seen it done) but very light and small, perfect for even very small packs.

It looks like the gadget/cell phone pouch but I could be wrong. It seems a bit wider in the photos on the web.
Edit... Maybe it's the Condor iPouch.

Not the gadget pouch as it's got a zipper, but could very well be the iPouch. Thanks bud.

Yeah, sorry, mentioned the name/model# back a few pages, it's the "MA45 - 'i-pouch'", pretty cheap from the big auction site or thesurplusguy.com
I guess they call it the "i-pouch" because it can fit an iPhone? I don't have one of those, too expensive, paying for one would cut into my knife-budget ;) (and groceries, mortgage, etc.)

I recently purchased a Condor MA45 "i-pouch" (I already own their H2O-pouch) and it attaches well to my GSO-10 using kiah's g-clip on the front, though it'd be more secure with some cord threaded through the sheath-holes and molle-webbing. The pouch can fit an altoids-tin in the front with room in the main pouch for a cell-phone, flashlight, etc. I'll get some pics this weekend, but here is a stock-photo:

The price is ridiculously low! I might pick up two to mount on the 5 and to my shoulder strap on my backpack.

I was in Costco and they had a CASE of Altoids in tins. I was really tempted, ha ha!
You'd be prepared and minty fresh for life!

That looks great. Nice colors. Functional. Carry options. Good belt carry height.

Most of my other knives came with nylon sheaths so I am really enjoying the standard SURVIVE! kydex. What I've heard about Tactical Tailor is all good. In the past I had considered Spec Ops nylon sheaths as an upgrade for other brand knives and their stock sheaths.

I think I remember you talking about this sheath a while ago. How do you like it so far?

Superb sheath and craftsmanship made in the U.S.
(sewing is always on the money with T.T., genuine Crye P. used)

That's a 4.1, the sheath is made for a 6" blade, so obviously that leaves 2" of empty space, but the 4.1 fits tightly inside the injection molded sleeve which is removable for cleaning, felt lined so no rattle and allows drainage.
With the leg rig it works just fine (for me) in the field etc.
Currently on sale.

Well, hopefully everyone already knows about my extension piece (see my signature or the give-away thread hereabouts).

I'd been making kydex firesteel holders as well from the scraps - 3" x 1.2" folded over - but I'm out of material and don't have the funds to order more just now, hopefully soon if i sell enough of these extensions.
If you have a bit of kydex, a drill, a heat-gun, and a clamp, they're pretty easy to make yourself.

An alternative is to cut a 3" length from a 1.2" belt and drill holes on either side so that it folds around your firesteel or whathaveyou (the one below are drilled 3/4" o.c. on either end):

Kiah's sheaths, with the slots, allow for a lot of after-market attachments including the Tek-Lok and the AB-3 clip from Armory Plastics (http://www.armoryplastics.com/belt-clip/) and other clip-attachments.

Armory Plastics also makes the holder for the Tops Piggyback firesteel: http://www.topsknives.com/product_info.php?products_id=355

The intent is for users to drill a second hole to fit the spacing on their sheath and then cut it shorter if desired. I've been in contact with them (they also make the ESEE sheaths and some for Buck and Tops) and I know that they could make these holders to fit other firesteels or sharpeners, but they work in batches so you'd need to order quite a few.

For pouches, I know the ESEE pouch fit the previous GSO-5.1 sheath, as did the MOLLE-back. For other pouches, I'm usually lazy and either use cord to tie it on or cut a piece of kydex or leather to a suitable length (like those leather holders above) and drill holes where appropriate. It'd be awesome if Survive! was able to offer pouches through their webstore, but they have enough keeping up with the products they DO offer :D Guy's company needs more revenue and employees... hence the starter!

There are a lot of kydex-benders around BF - Halestorm and Azwelke and Dave Brown and Mashed Cat as well as Kiah. Each and every one of them could certainly make accessories that would work, but my honest hope is that Survive! starts offering accessories like these direct through their website  Kiah makes an awesome sheath, i know he can make these attachments as well.

Thanks for the mention. I appreciate it. I was beginning to think I was unknown around here. :D. Very honored to be mentioned with the superb makers above. I do make a standard fire steel and loop that will fit just about everything. The holes are 3/4" on center (standard configuration for large Tek Lok and Molle Locks). The fire steel is 1/4" x 2-1/2". The loop is 2" long.
With the holes and slots that Kiah puts on his sheaths, the loop should fit everything. Unfortunately, since I'm a bender, I don't normally order any knives with the stock kydex.

I also build a plain loop with no holes. That way you can mark it and drill to fit just about any sheath you own. The loop is 2" long so it will accommodate up to 1-1/2" for holes to attach to the sheath.

Esee pouches and Maxpedition are another animal. They require a certain width to the sheath which is problematic when the knife is small like the 3.5 or 4.1. or very large like the 10 and the coming 12. The sheath won't look or fit right if it's too wide. The way around this is a backing plate that the pouch mounts onto and then the plate mounts to the sheath. Here's a few pics to explain it all and show the loops and steels.

To answer Hard Knocks - I'll build some stuff if you guys need it. PM me, send me the sheaths and what you want and I'll custom build it to fit your rig.

I wonder if I can buy one of each of all the sheaths from Survive!Knives or Kiah and then build everyone some accessories to fit?

Halestorm, I love the look of your sheaths and I really like the slim ferro rod attachment.

If someone ordered an attachment for a GSO you already own, would you still need our sheath sent in?

Wow, that's some very nice work! I especially like the Kydex topper you put on the firesteels.

Those toppers are too cool.

I like that Nyala sheath with the light-colored eyelets as well. Really sets it off!

This is great news Ronnie. The firesteel loops should go right on. If you can't get a full line of the sheaths, could you get what you need if we sent you a sheath so you could build a duplicate, or just take what measurements you need? I'm thinking mostly for the pouch attachment plates and such. I've only got the 3.5 sheath right now, but I'd ship it out if that would help, and maybe pick up an attachment or two while it's there. I really appreciate you checking in here.
