SURVIVOR - Progress Thread

Hey Dan, just a reminder; I canceled an order for which I had already paid a few months ago and asked you to apply the money I sent you to the Survivor. Let me know if you need more info on that one. The details are on the message I posted in "My Orders".

Hi Dan,
I sent you a payment via Paypal for the balance of Survivor #14. If you are not showing me paid could you please check your records. It's not showing on the order tracker.
Thanks,
Randy

Um. Ever have a mistake in your favor? :D

I have been traveling like mad over the last two weeks and really have not not had time to check on the status of the Survivor. I am one of the first 15. So....I get home just in time to go blow a wad on everything I need for my annual New Years Party and a friend found on my porch a package and placed it in my kitchen. Was scramblin!

So...mid party.....I have about 120 guess in my house and a friend ask's if they move a package on my kitchen counter so we can have a little more "room."

I ask...."um...what package?"

I apologize for the lack of GREAT pictures....but this is what I was able to "quickly" snap this morning.

The mistake?

I still owe 65 dollars for this beast. Which will be Paypal'd first think tomorrow Dan! Thank you for a BEAUTIFUL blade!

These pictures do not EVEN begin to do it justice...EVERYONE took one look at that monster and was WOW'd....it spent the next 30 minutes traveling the kitchen and my trailing it making sure no one cut themselves like a damn mother hen.

A BEAST!

the next 15 are boxed up ready to ship out for heat-treat.

I was hoping to grind the next 15 and send them together...but I think I'll just send this one off first.

Thanks for the reminder!

Dan

Ok...who do we need to talk to about that Sheath? Are other options still be looked into? My Baby needs pants! LOL

The 2nd set of 15 blades should be back from heat-treat soon...and the next set will be going out next week.

JRE is looking into making a sheath....

I'm open to suggestions...

There will be no "official" sheath for the Survivor, though. But I'm happy to work with whomever wants to make one.

Thanks!

Dan

Hello All;

We wanted to get some quick input from The Survivor Buyers...

We are torn about which way to go with this one...

Kind of Tactical?
or
Kind of Practical?

My initial thought was something practical like this:

Simple and packable and attachable.
Of course all of the optional add - ons that we offer would be available too.

Any thoughts?

I like where you're headed with that sheath, Storm72.

What are the pros/cons of that design?

I ground out and prepped 7 more Survivors this morning...Wahoo!!!

Now I need a nap....:foot:

*sigh*

:D

I don't care for dangly sheaths like this; they beat my leg up when running. A leather loop is more stable and, if oiled, quieter. An end loop (blade tip end) would be nice for stable mounting.

daniel, on a knife this big, I really like a low-ride dangler, that keeps the top of the handle at or slightly below the top of the belt, especially on something like the survivor with a pointed pommel. love handle jabs are no fun. having a lash-point on the bottom of the sheath is very important, and ideally it has enough room to run a 1" piece of webbing through it. gotta be practical, it's a camp/pack knife.

This.

Practical is paramount with a cutting tool of this size and form factor.
