SURVIVOR - Progress Thread

Dan,

WOW, looks great! I wan't a sheath with mine (sent you an email). I also noticed that it has Green not Natural next to my name. I asked for Natural on your order tracker and posted again (post #41) in April asking for a handle in Natural, is that what's coming???

Dan, I'm # 11 on the list. I'd like to change the handle to Natural Micarta. THANK YOU!

Thanks for taking the time to make these worth waiting for!

-Rick

Looking Good !!!

Will be looking out for them .........................
;)

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!

These are definitely going to be the most bang-for-buck knife I've ever made (and probably ever will make)...

Heckuvalotta knife for less than 2 clams!

Dan

looking good.

btw, you do know that the USPS will ship Priority Mail boxes to you for free, don't you? :p

Yes....and I have tried them all. So much so....that I've grown weary of them.

I am starting to use boxes now that fit the size of the knife so that I can pack it properly, without excessive newspaper padding, etc.

Ends up costing 0.50 or so per box....but saves me a couple dollars since I don't have to use as much newspaper...and gives me less head-pain from having to worry about tips breaking through the boxes. :(

Some things are worth paying extra for, ya know?

I still use the videocassette boxes for smaller knives....just not for nessmuks or larger.

Dan

Dano,

RE The Natural Micarta Handle, please catch me on the next batch if it's not a problem. Perhaps there's another Green on the list who won't mind being bumped up?

I thought the waiting before was gonna kill me, not only am I getting a lotta knife at a great price, but building patience as well! :D

Sigh.... I'll quit watching the mailbox 'till you say so.

Merry Christmas!

Heck yeah, I'd take that bump. ;) But since I'm last on the list probably makes more sense to go to someone with a green in the next batch. :D

Daniel,

Per my email response to your payment reminder I mailed in a check on November 3rd as the balance due. If you are not showing me paid could you please check your records?

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Dan,
I also got your email about final payment. I am paid in full I have a canceled check that you cashed on May 2 2008 and I paid the deposit by paypal. Let me know if you need any other info.:)
Thank You

Finished grinding the next 15....!

I'm going to grind a few more on Monday and get these in the mail to heat-treat!

I'll make updates to the list later, guys. Short day in the shop today!

Dan

so then we are looking about an April delivery for these based on the "to heat treat to final finished product" on the last batch? Just wondering so I can decide if I want to get a sheath or not.

My pair showed up today, and I have to say that this is one of those knives that is very dangerous in its ability to pull girlish giggles from you in the presence of other guys.

If you move out to the very back of the grip, the knife is very heavy out front and swings with a lot of power (and although I'll make use of the lanyard holes, this is one of the more secure-while-comfortable chopping handles I've tried just on its own). Move up and put your finger in that ring, however, and the balance becomes very central and quick. I'm thinking about sticking in "The 300" here----I know none of the Spartans were carrying blades like this, but they would have liked to.

Top notch, Dan

Rick - you're a great sport!!

I'm going to go ahead and hold on to this one and send it to JRE for a sheath. Heads up, Dan & Spen! :D

Dan...PM sent regarding my order for two (2) Survivors

Got your PM - reply sent.

I am sending out 30 more by the end of this week....3 weeks for heat-treat...and I don't really have much else piled up behind it....so I'd say probably 6-8 weeks for the next 30. Maybe 10 at the latest.

Glad to hear you like them, t1mpani !

I made these to be all-around users...meaning they should be able to chop as well as slice. I wouldn't relegate these to the chopper-only status....but yes, they are safe to chop with. Just use good judgment. ;)

Thanks!

Dan

Mine got here safe and sound Saturday.

Very impressive knife..... to say the least.

These are cool..... and BIG ..... and well done. ;)

Very impressive indeed !!!
