Speaking of NTM, I don't think that he will have any
of his Field Knives up for sale next Friday :( (there will be some Light Choppers plus his potato Knives)

Whaaaaat?!! I've gotta pay better attention, I was F5'ing like a fool last Friday at 2PM. Definitely going to jump on a Light Chopper and Field Knife just as soon as SOMEONE quits beating me out for them. :D

No need to worry about me any more on the LC :D

But when it comes to his FK, it's game on Brohim :p

Anyone tried the Smith & Son Brave? I'm very tempted to pull the trigger one one to keep me company until my Starter 3.5 arrives...

Looks very tempting ni1s, any specs for someone who hasn't seen em?

Coming up! What's holding me back is It's a bit more expensive than the s!k 3.5, and "only" D2 steel. But ergos looks really nice.

Survive! has me so spoiled with their superior use of steel, state of the art heat treat, fantastic design / ergonomics all offered "below" market prices that I often find cork blocking myself from spending $250 on other makers' knives not on par with the aforementioned GSO characteristics.

Sorry to be a downer guys, but these are the simple facts. However, I do also understand the intrinsic value of instant gratification by having that go to or want-it-now knife in your hands.

I get that reasoning. That's why I am not even bothered to look at other makers like Busse. It's too similar. You like what you like, and S!K represents the best in a lot of categories (all except "in stock"). Having said that, I am waiting on a very cool kiridashi from a custom maker with exhibition-grade koa handles. Not even a category close to something from S!K, so I don't find I am making any comparison to be "settling for". If I stay away from comparisons then my mind wanders into "gottahaveit" territory...

I don't have a way to post pics or I would bedazzle y'all with my favorite Himalayan Imports chiruwa ang khola. ...love that thing!

Right on, man. SURVIVE! has seriously warped my view on the knife market. I used to think $150 for a TOPS or ESEE was reasonable and acceptable, but now I couldn't spend over $100 on 1095 with the value Guy is achieving with his supersteels and handles and sheaths and finish and attention to detail and hats.

Yes! I've only purchased 2 knives of other brands since I got my first GSO. One is a budget folder and the other could not be farther from Guy's design philosophy. Those felt like good purchases because they are things I can't get from SURVIVE! Every now and then a knife will catch my attention, but either the materials or design are inferior to GSO's and I pass it up.

If you don't want to mess around with photo bucket or something similar BUT you really want us to see your favorite little baby, feel free to email me the pic and I can post it. If you'd rather we just Google it, that's cool too!

CPK LC in TeroTuf and my GSO5.1.

It will be interesting to see how it performs against the GSO8 or GSO10.

My tastes have changed over the years (if the condition looks good they are either a spare or been reconditioned). Thing is a good knife generally lasts, poor ones get given away, lost, or just forgotten about. Takes something special to buy something to add to my cutting armoury, and a whole lot of stuff just doesn't do it for me. I have a few more but these I use all the time.
At some time another GSO is probable.

A lot of good stuff there, GREEN. What's the big, coated chopper/boomerang above the axe?

You deserve another GSO!

Dorset Woodland Blades did a collaboration with John Hudson for his survival jungle school. I'd been playing with parangs and fancied one that was better built than the usual offerings. Well its a beast and more a construction tool; equal in power to my Marauder II (top). It could cut out a landing strip, or build a bamboo village. A team piece of equipment; a bit like a big Busse. Well thats what I think. Dorset Woodland Blades do small runs of things he likes.

Can you see the GSO?

When I first got into knives then there weren't that many good ones... well ones I could afford and even then a lot of Rambo junk. The Master Tanto is very early, with brass fittings. The Project II is No: 9, and thats travelled a few places (had it reconditioned a few years back). CR are to me the good guys; he and his Mrs are a top team. Al Mar always had some sexy stuff, and I liked some Blackjack stuff too; but both companies are now new ventures. The Mamba folder and Serre are classics. For what is not a lot of knife the Boye has given some service and a half; I have a spare.
Things have moved on quite a bit, however invest in a good knife and they will last a lifetime if not two... I have two GSO's because they caught my attention a few years back and I jumped straight away (had to wait an age but who didn't; all came good and worth it). Hard to get one now without your finger on the button; I'm a fan.

"You deserve another GSO", please tell my wife that... and then duck...

GreenJacket, Nice chopper spread. What's the third one down from the top with the ring at the pommel? Thanks in advance.
