That's cool how the shield snuggles up to the pin on 1211.

I did this one on #339 years ago by hand, I wanted to make sure I could do it before putting shields on my knives.
And by hand, I mean that I carved it out and inlaid by hand - no parser plate or jig.
Talk about something that's hard to do.....:)

Thanks guys.

I wish I could talk you into hand doing a custom shield for me! I want a knife to commemorate my 50th anniversary Mustang number 275. Elephant ivory, custom shaped shield, maybe even a red/white/blue striper. I'm willing to pay extra. Lol. But you've already said no twice. I just think you're style would be perfect for it.

Thanks guys.

Talk about something that looks hard even with the help of the tools to do it, I cant imagine doing it by hand....well I cant imagine doing it at all. Great job on #339 doing it by hand. And they just keep getting better:D

Thanks guys.

That is a beautifully conceived and executed knife Todd !!!

Looks like you did a perfect job and you certainly picked a difficult shield design to inlay.:thumbup::)

Do you still do them by hand carving or now use the parser plate or jig ???:confused::)

Beautiful Box Elder Burl too.:thumbup:;)

I use a template now to do all the shields, but had to do one so I new I could.

Thanks for the kind words, very much appreciated.

I like that # 339 too. In fact, i have it in my hand right now, cannot even feel the edge between shield & the Ironwood; 4 5/16" closed length. I think it is a very special knife.

Joe,
I always wondered who was the caretaker of #339.
I knew that Todd had done the shield inlay totally by hand.
It is A VERY SPECIAL KNIFE. ;)

Congratulations Joe, that certainly is special, and all the knives here are pretty amazing

Thanks again guys, glad you are enjoying the knives.

Here is a custom order - one three going out too Joe.

Folder - #1213

I had a hugely pleasant surprise yesterday when I received T.A.Davison #1204 from my friend 'Old & In The Way'. Stephen had told Todd of my love of the old Sheffield Lambsfoot pattern, and of ebony covers, and this was the result. I am absolutely stunned by how beautiful the knife is, and by Stephen's generosity of course. Absolutely fantastic work Todd

I'll try to get better photos soon :o

Jack, that's a Great knife Elegance comes in 'clean' packages. By 'clean' i mean just the essentials plus a shield and milled liners, nothing extra to distract one from the clean lines. And, with Todd's level of perfection in workmanship, you have a most Elegant knife. Also, Todd did a fine job of replicating the old Lambsfoot style of blade.
And this was a gift ? You do have fine friends for sure.
I like this knife so much that i'd like to be next in line should you ever pass it along. However, i'm 99.9% sure this is one you will keep as long as your heart beats. Thanks for showing us.

Thanks Joe, I really love the pattern, and I think it is the most perfectly-made knife I've ever seen, let alone owned :)

I certainly do :) :) :)

I'll certainly be keeping this one with me until the end

What a beauty Jack. Keeping it til the end is fitting. I hope this one serves you for many many years. Enjoy it in good health my friend, so fitting that it came into your hands.

Chris
