Tactical Folder

btw razorsdecent; a tactical knife is designed as a last ditch deal. not all of us carry guns, in this instance youre only carrying his edc knife. so youre walking down the street and you get attacked by a single person, but dont get immediately incapacitated. first thing youre going to do is run. if you cant run, are being held, or if the guy has a gun, something like a military is going to come out of your pocket quick and cut the shit out of the persons arm or whatever. if theyve got a gun you can take it from him, or kick it away and run; but if you cant, youre going to either kick him bad or do what i would do, take no chances, and stab the guy in the gut. both a military and the 710 come out quick and are going to do just fine cutting the shit out of the guys arm and stabbing the guy in the gut.

id also like to say that a dagger isnt a fighting knife...well maybe in westside story. a dagger is a killing knife, for stabbing someone in the back. fighting 'knives' were only used in country western films and in feudal japan. in country western films they had the smarts to use hand-sword bowies that were fast in hand (i.e. not 1 pound with 7 inch blade bussies as you imply, ankerson), and in feudal japan they used katanas. also ankerson, sal glesser had the sense to make the military into a large lightweight utility knife that outperforms every other knife in its class for $100 because in the military a pocket knife is far from your only tool, and you certainly dont need a full blown fighting knife over in iraq lol. yet even still the military will cut the shit out of someones arm and stab someone in the gut beautifully, body armor and thick clothing or not. good job sal.

When did you serve? What was/is your MOS?

I disagree with alot of the things you said.

Ever heard of the arkansas toothpick? : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkansas_toothpick but i'm sure you in your infinite wisdom already knew that. oh and lets not forget about the push dagger http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_dagger but i'm sure you also already knew about that too as well as the gamblers dagger. :jerkit: I'm sure no one in the old west caried things like that, i mean no one with any knowledge would ever carry a double edged blade for dealing with the immediate reslution of interpersonal conflict? and of course these weren't used to back up the winchester lever actions and the six shooters on their hips and the derringers in their pockets.

Yeah in feudal japan they also carried naginatas :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naginata as well do you think i should just cut the middle man and carry one of those? or maybe a kusarigama would be more to your liking :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kusari_gama not to mention that the katana was alot of the times back ups to the weapons i mentioned earlies and the japanese pretty much abandoned them after the advent of irearms when they became relegated to display pieces and motivation as well as a symbol of the family being a proud line of warriors. They werent knives btw they were swords like the vikings and europeans and almost every other culture had. The "combat knives" they had were called wakizashis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakizashi and they were really just short swords.

Oh and sure a military is just gonna glide through ESAPI plates like they were nothing right? :barf:

Almost forgot no id probably just run like the devil was after me i know how hard it is to hit a moving target with a handgun. and if he doesnt have a gun and just stabbed me with a knife well the last time i ran a full out 2 mile my time was 11:58 now add fear of being shot/diced to ribbons and he aint gonna catch me.

Oh yeah so true. The sad thing is that middle class and upper class americans don't enlist anymore. i came from a middle class family or at least we became middle class and i realized almost as soon as i joined up that i was very much in the minority. Whatever happened to the middle class enlisting? and i dont know if ive seen more than one or to upper class people in my entire carreer.

But ive gottn to jump out of planes and fire machine guns and rappel out of towers and ride ziplines from a 75 foot tower and i get paid for it, i also get at least 2 hours of exercise daily.

After a deployement to afghanistan im gonna get out, marry my fiance, go to college, get an internatioal security degree and then try to do some government work with any part of the government that will send me back overseas to continue the fight on terrorism of any kind.

That sounds like a good plan to me.

When I was in there was a lot of middle class people in, I was from an upper middle class family myself.

By the time you get out you will be ready to hit the books and yeah I am sure that your future wife will motivate you just fine.

Before you go over there make sure you get yourself a good strong 6-8" fixed blade as you are going to need it.

The Answer is clear.

Take a Little bit of Military...mix it with a Little bit of 710. Spyderhole here...axis lock there...full liners...a bit of g10...and BAM!

You have yourself a winner!

The 806!

HOHOJO speaketh much truth here.

Well seeing as how its been proven IN EVERY MAJOR BATTLE and in every minor one as far as i know (are you listening walleyeguy?) that rugged and relable combat knives are a worthwhile peice of kit i already bought myself one. Even though im an unashamed busse fan boy i wll have a desert tan RC-4 on my hip during deployment i also have an old rat 3 tucked into the space behind a large pouch on my iba which i will probably replace with either a new RC-3 or a TOPS stryker defender before i go. i also have an american tomahawk lagana tomahawk and a leatherman crunch which was a gift fom a friend between that stuff i will be quite set  in case you didnt know the afgahnis and iraqis hate large knives and axes. it's a cultural thing and i think it stems mainly from the fact that they are in a part of the world were people actually chop other peoples heads off. the tomahawk also can be used as a breaching tool and if things get fubared for cqc but i hope it would never even come close. if i could have it my way we would never even take contact much less have to get into close quarters fighting.

My busses are almost all safe queens and even the ones i use im not willing to bring with me to a place they can easily be lost stolen o just plain confiscated.

If you are a LEO or a soldier on the first line of defense of our freedom, you need a tactical knife - and God Bless you for your service. If, like me, you are a civilian - if you can do so legally - celebrate the 2nd Amendment and protect yourself properly with a firearm. If you cannot CC a firearm legally, get the highest count pepper spray you can find. No one wins in a real knife fight.

Sure, someone may expire, but the survivor may have loss of use of an arm, his bladder, or even have to wear a colostomy bag. I carry a knife because: 1. I can. 2. I appreciate the technology 3. And, sometimes, I need to open the mail - or a package - or clean a fish, etc - or clean my nails. No clips on mine, they are for my use and... yes... to be brought out of my pockets amongst my friends at the range for 'bragging rights'! To each their own.

With the paucity of shopping malls these days, so many having closed and been replaced by strip malls, perhaps a different term will have to be found to replace 'mall ninja'?

Still, there is something comforting about my 'little' .44 Special in my pocket - a knife just doesn't do it for me. But - that's me - YMMV.
