Tacticool Watch ?

Those are crazy-cool watches. Just checked their site out and really like the LUMzilla LZ3. I think I will have to sell off a few knives!

That's a sweet watch. My favorite feature is how much glass on top there is. Not crowded in the middle like some other watches.

But that price. :(

When I am deployed or at work I wear my G shock...inexpensive really takes the abuse plus the world time feature on mine is great when I am half way around the world. I use the timer and stop watch features all the time when I am working out. When I am at home I wear a Seiko watch with analog chronogragh looks alot more tacticool than my G shock, but I would be devistated if it got destroyed in the field.

It is quite spendy isn't it? But, man is it sweet. :D

As my wife will say when I show her, Oh, its the next great conquest. lol

Yeah, I'm expecting the Lum-Tecs are going to be like knives: you can't stop at just one. Pretty cool they only do small batches. Almost unheard of anymore.

I would have to agree with you there. I will somehow, someway restrain myself!:o Right!!!!!

I think the Rolex Sub/Dweller is probably one of the most "tac" watches out there. The movement is tough as hell.

The coolest "Tacticool" watches I've seen recently are the Lum-Tecs. The B2H looks pretty sweet, and it's even American made. They look pretty durable, but it would be interesting to see some feedback from field use. I've got the regular Combat B2, and it is awesome, but it has only had to survive the office jungle so far.

Do they really glow that bright at night? is it just glow in the dark paint or is it as long lasting as tritium? Those look cool but I'd hate to get it and it just be regular old GITD paint.

They glow silly bright, but it is not tritium, just their mix of Superluminova on bright white letters. Basically, high tech GITD. I'll have to take a series of pics with the glow dissipation. I'm happy with it, but I'm not running around in the dark ganking people.

Quoted for posterity. ;)

I got a stearn warning when I got to my unit about the watch I was wearing. It glowed too bright.

I though Trit tubed watches were standard issue / conformed to specifications.

This watch, fully charged for a glow, would the the equivalent of wearing a reflector vest until it dimmed down ;-) Walking out of sunlight into a dark room is startling.

I never saw one of those when I was in. Standard issue does not mean everyone gets them.

Tim, please stop giving me reasons to spend money I don't have on a watch that is way to nice for me to wear.

Actually it compares very well to my Citizen Eco-Drive.

I kinda corrected me self. "Standard issue" or "conforms to specifications" meaning you either get it or it's acceptable to use. Of course, the trit tube ones could be darker then some.

Lum-tec B2 charged up with a 100 watt bulb. Another 4-second exposure but in very dim light. I'll do the series after I can get a sunlight charge. Too dark out now in TX. It is even greener and brighter after sunlight. Can see the reflections from the numbers on the inside of the ring.

The Tritium tubes don't really glow as bright as charged Luminova. The thing is they always glow....no need for charging and they don't fade overnight. They do get less and less bright as time goes on since Tritium looses it's 'glow' after a few years.

Here's a SandY 590 which was an issue watch for several years. This was part of a special run for the USMA, hence the American flag on the dial.

I talked with the folks at Lum-Tec and they said they're blend of GITD material will glow visably for as long as 10 hours and up to 24 hours. They also said that over a 20 year period the material would lose about 5% of it's brightness and then remain there forever. So even if this thing only glows for about 10 hours... if it glows that bright I think that's all you'd ever need. And unlike tritium it will last forever given a small degradation. It's kind of a trade off but cool nontheless. Titium needs no charging but is shot after 12 years. Lum-Tec requires a daily charge but glows like a torch most of if not all night and will pretty much maintain that level of performance as long as you've got it. I wished these things weren't $600.00 bucks though. That's crazy expensive.

Usually you can use a LED flashlight to charge those things up right? I know a UV light will make them glow like crazy. Or is this GITD paint different? About how long does it continue to glow into the night? Does it last all night long? About how dim does it get by the hour?
