Tacticool Watch ?

Check out this post on the Vintage Rolex Forum for some real issue watches. If you're a watch fan at all it's just an amazing post.

I'd hate to guess how much those would all bring. The old Panerais are probably worth around $100k each; a MilSub sold at auction recently for $166,800.

The MK1 PP DRSD twins are two watches I would really like to have :thumbup:

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with quartz watches?

It's personal preference more than anything else. One problem that can arise is that they have a battery that will die at some point (outside of the Eco-drive and Kinetic ones) and that can happen when you least expect it. It's mostly philosophical though as they just don't interest me in the same way that a mechanical movement does. It may be somewhat silly but I have a problem paying very much for a watch with an electronic movement as opposed to one with an escapement, gears and springs.

I 2nd what he said. We are by nature admirers of quality mechanical devices. You wouldn't want a battery powered DA OTF?

Yes, but you sacrifice quite a bit when you choose mechanical over quartz. Quartz watches have a battery life of around 3 years, some longer. They are also very accurate. Mechanical watches can lose 20 seconds every day.

Mine stays well within COSC standards. I've only lost 45 seconds in the last month.

If I shelled out that much for a watch I'd expect it to be pretty perfect too. ;)

Consider though, most quartz watches won't loose one second in an entire week. Mechanical watches are also sensitive to shocks and vibrations, causing it to loose time or gain time.

That being said, I do have a mechanical watch on the way. If only for the sweep second hand. :o

That's what I like most about them. Sometimes I'll just watch mine creep around the dial :D

the tritium on the face of my dress watch has dimmed considerably...can't get a replacement either; extremely cost prohibitive for a old school rolex explorer 1, and i rarely wear it anymore anyways...these days when i need to wear one it's a timex ironman model(s)...works good enough for me...

There are people who will redo the face with new lume or trit tubes. Check out some watch forums.

Got my watch (see link earlier) and a Maratac silicone band for it. I love the combo. Comfortable and easy to read. I do miss the tritium but I'm getting used to charging the luminova off my Surefire if I'm going to be in the dark.

Question about the Zulu straps. Which is more comfortable, the 2 or the 4 buckle? I want to try one on my Luminox.

Anyone have experience on wenger watches? I've been eyeing on their cheaper side of products.

I own one Wenger watch. It is a nice watch and works fine. Not really tactical, more a sportive look. I got it for about 100 euros.

I love my G Shock.

I've had different Fossile(they are ok) and Seiko(I hate these now) watches over the years but like this Solar G Shock way better.

I'm eyeing this Tracer right now...
