Tacticool Watch ?

Usually you can use a LED flashlight to charge those things up right? I know a UV light will make them glow like crazy. Or is this GITD paint different? About how long does it continue to glow into the night? Does it last all night long? About how dim does it get by the hour?

I normally charge mine with a shot of my E1B. Lights my Citizen and Wenger up nice.

Really starting to want one of those watches though.:o

cool watches. the lume tech is a good one. the watch i wear the most is a stowa prodiver, crazy bright lume last all nite you can still read it early the next morning and since i dive its very legible underwater, german made and tough as can be, synth saphire crystal and a automatic hev valve should i ever need it hopefully i won't ever been in a decomp chamber. but if i am my watch won't pop from the helium overpressure. 1000m water tight.

I'll take a series of photos spaced out over several hours with a charged-up watch this weekend and post the results.

Titium needs no charging but is shot after 12 years.

No, that's just the half-life -- and the human eye works on a log scale and cannot detect any difference less than a factor of two. So after 12 years it will have dimmed enough so you can tell the difference, if you have a new one to compare yours to.

In practice, both tritium and the Lumibrite family work so well and last so long that it doesn't make a lot of difference which you choose.

+1 I've owned the watch I posted around 10 years and it's still more than bright enough in the dark.

The tracer/H3/luminox watches are actually not bad IMO.
This is one of the few quartz watches I have had and kept :)

Guys, we often hear about tactical knives, tactical folders, but are there such things as tactical watches ?

I have the feeling that anything that is military inspired is nowadays called tactical. So watches which are really made for and used by soldiers are tactical and so are lookalike watches, I think.

Below is my tactical watch. I don't know if it is really used by soldiers, but I like it and use it mainly for my outdoor activities. A simple watch with a clear display in a strong case.

Well, with prices like some of those specimins are fetching, I'll stick with my tacticool Luminox F-117 Nighthawk watch. :)

Today I just use my cell phone but when I was on active duty I wore the basic G-Shock. I carried an extra one in my ruck. If my watch crapped out on me I didn't need to be learning a new set of buttons.

A Seiko diver's watch got some use as well but in the field I was partial to the Casio.

When I made First Sergeant the wife gave me a Submariner. I great watch but I rarely wore it to "work". It was definately a dress watch.

Come on it's Dick Marcinko! :jerkit:

ROGUE WARRIOR WATCH PHILOSOPHY.
IF YOU THINK PUTTING LADIES UNDERWEAR ON THE HEAD OF A TERRORIST IS TORTURE, YOU DON'T REALLY NEED THIS WATCH.

IF YOU THINK PLAYING LOUD ROCK MUSIC TO A TERRORIST IS TORTURE, YOU DEFINITELY DON'T NEED OUR WATCH.

AND IF YOU THINK CLOSING GITMO IS A GREAT IDEA, THEN WE REALLY DON'T WANT TO SELL YOU A WATCH.

Yeah. Interesting FAQ.

I like how they design their watches (like using that d3o material, like a beefed-up G-Shock) but:

1. They're goddang fugly!

2. What's with those "bars" sticking out of the Red Cell models?! They could potentially snag the watch or cause more trouble than supposedly protect the watch face.

3. They Youtube vid shows the usual bracelet pins used for any other watch. So much for an watch that'll see extreme use. By comparison, the Reactor and MTM watches have a solid hex-head like screw pins.

Those are to protect the face of the watch while you're bashing someones head.

QUESTION: WHY DO YOU USE MINERAL CRYSTALS AND NOT SAPPHIRE?
ANSWER: SAPPHIRE CRYSTALS ARE SUPERIOR WHEN IT COMES TO SCRATCH RESISTANCE. MINERAL CRYSTALS ARE TOUGHER THAN SAPPHIRE BUT ARE MORE PRONE TO SCRATCHING. WHEN BANGING SOMEONE OVER THE HEAD, THE OPERATORS WHO PURCHASE OUR WATCHES WOULD RATHER HAVE A SCRATCHED CRYSTAL THAN A SHATTERED CRYSTAL. (CRYSTALS ARE ONLY GLASS). THAT'S WHY WE USE A 4mm THICK CRYSTAL AS OPPOSED TO THE STANDARD 2mm. THIS IS ALSO TRUE OF THE 2 STAINLESS STEEL CRYSTAL PROTECTORS. THE TOP SIDE OF THE CRYSTALS ARE SAPPHIRE COATED AND ANTI GLARE TREATED ON THE INSIDE. WHAT RESULTS IS THE TOUGHNESS OF A MINERAL CRYSTAL AND THE SCRATCH RESISTANCE OF SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL.

I read a lot of good things about Casio its G-Shock watches and decided to buy one this week. I believe it is the most basic one, but good enough for me.

That is the one! Day in and day out the toughest watch I've owned and cheap enough to buy a spare.

I have a few watches I wear. I have a Timex Expedition, a Wenger, and a Luminox SEAL watch. I love the Tritium on the Luminox. I want to get a Marathon eventually.

I know to get Marathons through County Comm. What are some other reliable online retailers to get things like Citizens, Casio G-Shocks, etc.

I really like Amazon for common watches. Good prices and they have great deals every now and then.
