i called to cancel a pre order ar and i get this minutes after getting off the phone! WTF? this was the second time for me to cancel as both times i found an ar elsewhere but i don't think this kind of response is deserved or in the best interest of the company. i'm pretty pissed.

i'd like to hear what everybody else thinks.

That's freaking weird. I've never pre-ordered ANYTHING from TAD. I emailed them once regarding pre-ordering a SnG. Needless to say, my email & yours are different. I'm clueless.

evan mentioning your usn in the email makes about as much sense as sending it in the first place!:footinmou

OK, I'm not a mind reader but I think what's
happening is that after pre ordering and canceling twice they don't want to hear from you again.

Okay, they might not want to take any further preorders from him if they feel that strongly about it.However,it is still a very childish, unprofessional response. If they can't handle someone cancelling twice without going mental than they have serious issues.Ya know sometimes ya have to be more tactful when representing a business when corresponding,or just don't respond if you can't rspond appropriately.WE all feel like telling someone to go F*** themselves sometimes, but if I do it while I'm on the clock I get fired. If you own a business and start sending e-mails like whats been posted to customers for cancelling orders, well then you start to scare people off.Who wants to shop at a place where you have to be scared to cancel or return something more than once.Cancel again and will never take an order from you!!!!!!!:grumpy:

I think TAD might have been hacked. I received an email with a $ figure in the body. It also had a link to a telcom company. I suspected a virus and just deleted it.

I've always had great professional experiences with them.

Was TAD's response to you unprofessional? Maybe.
Is twice ordering and promising to pay for an item when it arrived and canceling both times wrong? Absolutely.

cancelations and returns are common in running a business. if they can't handle it they should find another line of work.

Sounds like if you can't keep your word they don't wan't your business. I can't blame them.

TAD's Pre-Order Policy
http://www.tadgear.com/pre-order_policy.htm

WE DO NOT REQUIRE DEPOSITS FOR PRE-ORDERS. ONCE THE PRE-ORDER IS PLACED IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT WE ARE COMMITTED TO ACQUIRING THAT ITEM FOR YOU, AND THAT YOU ARE COMMITTED TO FOLLOWING THRU WITH YOUR PRE-ORDER. WE DO NOT CHARGE OR REQUIRE PAYMENTS UNTIL ITEM IS READY TO SHIP. THIS SIMPLE POLICY WILL STAY IN PLACE UNLESS ABUSED.

I'm not trying to bust your balls on this but you didnt change your mind. You ordered a knife from them, promising that when they got it you would buy it from them. Both times you bought it somewhere else.
They have a right to be pissed. You don't.

I think samhell's point is that TAD's policy strictly states that a pre-order is considered a contract in good faith for them to provide and you to buy. If you think you may change you mind before getting the item, you ought not have dealt with TAD in the first place.

It is true that generally speaking, telling someone to F OFF is bad busines practice. But this case requires a special look. With that "honor" clause put in, I think that TAD was well within their rights for sending the e-mail they did. I doubt tom poe was legally bound to buy the knife, but tom poe did breech a contract of honor.

I hope some day Mr Poe, you are on the receiving end of someones telling you they want a service or product and then NOT ONCE BUT TWICE CANCELLING IT,after you had already purchased it.RUDE and in very bad taste.Or perhaps you cannot make a decision.Or make up your mind.
Tell us more about purchasing etiquette Mr.Poe

I've personally dealt with TAD on several different occasions and met Josh in person at Blade.....I have had nothing but good experiences with them. Josh, Patrick, and Evan are always helpful on the phone and via email and do their best to accommodate any stupid requests and have even hooked me up on occasion. Trying to paint them as anything but exceptional is in my mind futile....

I have had nothing but the best service from Evan, Josh, and the others at TAD. I wouldn't hesitate buying from them again(actually placed an order with them today). :D

How old were these orders that you cancelled? Had you been told delivery dates that had been missed? Or did you place the order, then cancel it the next day? Your story is pretty bare of details so it's hard to make a judgement either way... and there's two sides to each story.

I have spent many, many $$$ with TAD and have always had great service from Josh, Patrick, Evan and the rest of the TAD crew. I will continue to support them !

Mr. Poe i think you viewpoint is in the extreme minority and there are plenty of other dealers out there if you can't follow thru with your commitments.

I have quite a few goodies coming from TAD and can't wait to recieve them and as an added bonus they seem to be able to get some things that most dealers can't or won't try to get for you.

TAD is my favorite on-retailer of tactical gear. In the bigger picture, perhaps they don't want your business anymore, and probably that's not professional. On the other hand, their clients are loyal, and are basically no-bull$hit, and committed. I guess their style is based on the adage, "One bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

i'd like to hear what everybody else thinks.

Happy to oblige:

I think that it is rather astounding that you seem to consider yourself as having been a victim in this petty exchange.

I think that after twice placing a pre-order with TAD and then buying from another source their reply to you was a model of restraint.

I think that TAD more deserves to make a post about this exchange in GB&U.

You must have posted this while still upset about the exchange. You might want to rethink after cooling off. I don't think TAD's reaction should be that much of a surprise.

I've gotten a few things from TAD. They have some of the coolest gear on the planet earth at competitive prices. Over the years I've had a couple of folks back out on deals after committing to a purchase, really chapped my ass. Hmmm...canceled two purchases then posted a private e-mail
