Take a peek at Cold Steel's 2008 lineup

I only by coldsteels cheap stuff, they seem to be of better quality
I will have to get the new G.I. tanto with handles
and the finn wolf looks like a good user
I'm just curious as to what they were smoking when they disigned the boar hunter :D

Do my eyes deceive me or is that a balisong hunting knife on p22?

That "battle ring" is like an uglified kunai from Naruto.
It says it's not a balisong, and takes two hands to open. So it's legal everywhere. Too bad.

Thanks Esav. I guess I should have known that:o After being ale to read the specs, it loks like CS has some MEGA folders coming out, adI dig them MEGA folders! I'm thining about the spanish desgn in an L and XL 5.5" ad 7.5", 9.9 ounces, and 15 ounces......WOW! The Rajah 1 as caught my eye with the 6" X 5.5mm blade, that is STOUT. Just wonder wat the prices are going to look like since these may go the way of last years "custom quality" folders. Definately are worth the look.:D

I was set on the large Espada until I saw the $339 MSRP :( Sorry Lynn, I'm just not putting that kind of money down for CS.
American Lawman looks interesting though.

The Trail Boss could be interesting, and I might actually buy a GI Tanto now that they've done away with the cord wrap, but that Boar Hunter seems a bit ridiculous.

The American Lawman looks very interesting to me. A healthy blade thickness with a very high hollow grind, new lock, G10 handles, and a generous finger choil. I'll definitely be picking one of those up. If the price is right, it actually looks like pretty good competition for the now discontinued Mini Manix.

The pictures aren't that high quality, so I'd guess that the bolsters on the Espada look much nicer in person. The graphic quality of the entire catalog is a little lacking in my opinion. Lots of compression artifacts.

Damn it's a pain to zoom in and out.

The battle ring makes me sad.

Look at the amazing 8 different ways you can hold it. Why even include that picture?

I can understand positions 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8, but postions 1, 2, and 6 are just plain silly.

I think page 12 is the most interesting. I wonder if it's possible or practical to remove, cut, or otherwise disable the springs on the Black Rock Hunter to restore it to the delightful flip-floppery it so obviously desires. It occurs to me that the horrible abuse of such springs to cripple the poor balisong may only be so that they can import them in first place.

The Folding Bushman is also intriguing.

This strikes me as an unusally and exceptionally ambitious year for Cold Steel.

the black rock doesn't have a tang or zen pins, so I wouldn't try to make it a flipper, personally

Well, yeah. CS doesn't strike me as a type of company itching to replicate Spyderco's balisong experience or otherwise push the legal envelope. When I saw the Black Rock Hunter, the first thing that came to my mind was "modernized Hackman" rather than another flipping bali.

lots of fun toys. One thing I have to say about CS is they always keep coming out with fun looking toys. I have a cord wrapped GI that is a thrower, and I want one with the plastic handles now.

their new lineup always makes me smile.
