Take a peek at Cold Steel's 2008 lineup

I've been looking for a folding chopper for a while, the Rajah II looks to do the trick.

You have to appreciate that they put out products no one else will touch. For example they have a greater variety of fixed blades than any other company I know of, and at decent prices too.

The fake Sebenza comes complete with a 4116 Krupp stainless blade, which in objective tests done in Cold Steel's labs, actually outperformed blades made from more expensive S30V, BG-42, and 154CM steels.

Seems, too, as someone noted, that there's a migration back to AUS8 stainless. Apparently, VG-1 is getting a bit more expensive, which is okay, because independent tests in their labs have shown that AUS8 is actually a little better than VG-1!

Have a Natchez Bowie here.
I was forced to say "Holy Shiznits!" when I opened the box. :)

other[/I] knife manufacturer other than Cold Steel.

Dark Ops and MTech have got their share and seem to earn it. Cold Steel has a lot of copies in their lineup. Many are designs from the '50s and '60s - most knife buyers today have no clue originals are still available as new production.

An entire lineup of knives can be copied and people still aggressively collect them regardless. Remington started that way according to one source, back in the '30's, but none of the older slipjoint guys make it an issue, and that was in the old time religion days.

Now we're diverse and accepting, until it comes down to intellectual property, and then it's "call a press conference and sue!"

Ok the description for the folding bushman says it took the design from the douk douk and updated it with a lock and thumbstud. So if everybody says the folding bushman is a sebenza clone then both of them are clones of the douk douk I guess.

Once, when CS still had knives made in the US, I would have bought a few. The Bushman, in particular, looked interesting. Now, though...

Two quotes.
This particular item arrived from China. This item like many others that originate in China was probably forcibly created from the regimes choice to enslave its population and produce slave labor products that are complete knock-offs of the real deal. The lack of business ethics and proprietary rights created the catalyst that enables these unscrupulous individuals to use forced labor to create the phony items that attempt to be the real deal.
From CS's press release on fakes

And...

Our products are manufactured world wide. Most items are made in Japan, Taiwan, or China.
From their FAQ.

That's just too much.

those Ti-Lites!...
Must own...

Kermit man ... must resist...CS goodies...

Darn, the pocket bushy had a 4.5'' inch blade.
Otherwise I'd buy it and carry it.
Stupid North Carolina.
Lynn, release it with a 3.45"- please please please!

Their tests may be objective, but they sure as heck aren't impartial and unbiased.

So apparently the Boar Hunter is literally made for people who hunt wild boar with nothing more than a KNIFE.

Do people seriously DO that? I mean...even in the Middle Frickin' Ages they used dogs and spears on horseback to hunt boar. This blows my mind.

The 2009 Cold Steel catalog will feature the Polar Bear Hunter (2' double-edged Wharncliffe), the Great White Shark Hunter (combination 9" San Mai III bowie blade and explosive harpoon), and the Tyrannosaurus Rex Hunter (combination 3" AUS-8 drop-point and Stinger missile launcher).

Yes. It looks like you've already figured out why it's not a very popular pastime.

We have several people on Bladeforums who have done this.
At least the hunt isn't boring.

Seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to for some bacon.

Mmmm... Bacon... (Now where's that drooling smilie when you need it...) Try living in a moslim country for a couple of months and you'll find out that there's no such thing as too much trouble for bacon. Bacon is one of those things you don't notice when its available, but you miss it very much when it's not available. (did you notice I like bacon?:D)

There's some good looking stuff in their catalog, but I've got all the Cold Steels I'll ever need - the Trail Master Bowie!

Why in God's name would anyone want that blade style for boar hunting? They didn't mention anything about danger to the dogs which is the only reason I can think of. If I wanted to stick a pig, you can bet your life I'd go with the regular OSS.

Most are made overseas. Just like about every other damn thing anymore.

Japanese made knives are just as good as american made knives. It's the other overseas countries you got to worry about.
