Tc barlows & mind blowing sheath give-away**WINNERS ANNOUNCED**

Sounds like it's about time for the drawing! The posse has been called off Primble. Primble's posse (Primble) has been called off this thread. If we leave it open any longer, you know more people will get in?

We will leave it for a wee time yet Macchina, but we will put a cap on the generous people who have come in - amazing stuff!!

Dont trust that Primble fells my friend, he will be up to something, stations are armed!!

This one is making my head spin, but I can't resist it any longer. This one looks like a lot of fun. I'll toss my TC Barlow-less hat in the ring. Thank you kindly for the chance, folks.

1,What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?
Most indubitably the various boys’ knives or radio knives I’ve noticed that pop up here and there will be quite collectable. With a nice main blade and a cap lifter, one would make an excellent knife for kicking back after a day of work or headed out to a shindig to meet some friends.

2, What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?
I like the ones with a short mantra such as, “A Day’s Work.” With that in mind, I’d get a bit of a chuckle if I opened one that read, “Cut Stuff:D

3, Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?
What’s not to like about it? It’s a quality interpretation of a classic design. I’ve always been partial to the models sporting a clipped main blade and a secondary pen blade, but the spear points are something else.

4, Why you think you should win a TC Barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ).
This one is a tough one…. I doubt I’ll have a good answer here. I’d love to find a nice, quality traditional to rival my Bullnose for pocket time. I figured a TC Barlow would fit the bill perfectly, but the $ and opportunity haven’t overlapped quite yet. :grumpy:

This thread is just absolutely crazy...cannot believe so many people are giving away all these amazing knives and sheaths. Truly impressive generosity happening right here.

1,What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?
Most any of the Bladeforum Traditional knives of the year would make it on anyone's list, or at least they should

2,What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?
I think the "Real ... Barlow" etches look great, no idea on a special one

3,Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?
I didn't used to like the Barlow pattern, but seeing the Bladeforum's Traditional Barlow from a few years ago changed my mind. I always used to think it was a boring "old man's knife" Now, the simplicity of the design, plus the long bolster perfect for engraving trips my trigger. The deep stamp of TC looks great, as well. I like a 2-blade design, with a sheepsfoot and a pen, or a clip and bottle-opener, or a single long spear. I've been drooling over a stag handle, but still love a nice dark jigged bone.

4,Why you think you should win a TC barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ).
I don't think I deserve it, but I do WANT it! I've been a LOOOONG TIME member of Bladeforums. Have given away my fair share of gifts, but have also gotten a few, in return. Winning one of these would be more encouragement for me to give even more away, and so keep the cycle going! (plus, I'm a pretty nice guy, just ask me!)

Awesome Give Away! Thanks to all the generous folks who are contributing.

What a gushing gaggle of generous gentlemen we have here! A wellspring of the consideration and good will for each other, that like-minded spirits share, frothing over to fill our hearts. Simply put, an astounding event is taking place before our eyes. Even the losers will be winners.....

1,What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?
I believe that the GEC 92 pattern (Eureka/Talon) is timeless and will endure far into the future.

2,What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?
Not impressed with blade etches (they go away, soon enough), but of the ones so far, the "Genuine Barlow" does it for me.

3,Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?
My first knife was a Barlow, given to me by my Grandfather. I prefer the classic (to me) clip and pen configuration.

4,Why you think you should win a TC barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ).
I have but one (single clip in Che Chen Rosewood). It needs a companion to share the load.

Seriously, I think there's something in the water. An epidemic of generosity. Not only all the contributors to this amazing, epic giveaway, but all the random generosity and kindness popping up all over our little corner of the interwebs. I have just received in the mail an amazing gift from Sarah (pertinux) My very first Charlow!!! And when my hands stop shaking, I'll post some pictures, but I feel I should withdraw my entry from this giveaway, as I have already been the beneficiary of such generosity, it would be unseemly to ask for more.

Excuse me, but I must be off to start a patina. :D

I see an infraction coming :)

Congrats on your first Charlow r8shell. Maybe you'll get a second

At 1700 hours today, Monday - September 15, 2014 - that other thread was nuked by a large ICBM,

believed to have originated from the vicinity of down under, possibly from New Zealand!!

This is a photo captued by one of our reporters of a man known as Mr. Primble - he is currently licking his wounds.

Congratulations r8shell  Well done P :)

I'd like to contribute to the GAW too. I made a Charlow bead in African Blackwood. Please add it to the GAW.

Oh, just in case I need permission, I spoke with Primble and he authorized it! :D

This is an amazingly generous giveaway! I don't own any Barlow whatsoever. Never really clicked for me until these. There's something downright beautiful about em.

1,What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?
I think any of the discontinued alox Victorinox (by that point) will be highly collectable.

2,What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?
Something old timey. Or none.

3,Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?
It looks like an old knife but through the filter of awe that we tend to apply to bygone times.
I honestly think it looks better than the "real" ones.
I like multiple blades and or a sheepsfoot.

4,Why you think you should win a TC barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ).
Is love to have a knife that I can carry and hand down to my son when he's old enough.

I'm in ! First off, I'd just like to say a BIG thank you to those who are contributing. You don't have to do things like this, but it shows much about your character to do so. I've not had a chance to own a TC Barlow so I'm crazy excited to even have a chance to win one.

1. This is a super tough question. My guess would be the GEC 48 Trapper. My example is as near perfect as I can imagine. Pocket friendly but big enough for any task.

2. To be honest I really don't care for the etchings at all. It's a classic design that speaks for its self.

3. The one that catches my eye the most is the saw cut bone with a clip point blade. Just has a classic look to it in my opinion. The prominent TC bolsters on these knives just scream "Buy me!".

4. I've been eyeing the TC Barlows for awhile now. My finances and the overwhelming interest in these knives has conspired against me. I don't deserve or need one anymore than anyone else. I sure do want one though and that's a fact.

Wow, you guys in the Traditional Forums are awesome. I have been treated so well here since my first, albeit ignorant first post. To this gentlemen I say thank you, and for all the wealth of information you folks share with us trying to learn more, at 53 I still feel like a newbie sometimes around here.

1,What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?
I think those with beautiful unusual handle materials, and makes that are with us seldom or no more will be.

2,What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?
I am also not a big fan of graphics on the blade, but simple small clean ones are my preference, I love sheepsfeet (is that right?) so I do like the one with a sheep head on the blade.

3,Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?
I like the simple fact that it emulates the classic styling and is instantly recognizable as the classic barlow knife.

4,Why you think you should win a TC barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ).
I don't currently own a barlow, but I have fond memories of my Grandmothers second husband--who we all still called Grandpa, carrying and using his barlow around the shop frequently. My Dad, and his Dad, owned a business that manufactured awnings, and my Real (first)Grandpa had a barlow he used in that shop also. My second Grandpa manufactured Casket Vaults and was a hardworking gent, who seemed to always have his barlow close at hand, I secretly wished I would end up with one of my 2 Grandpa's knives frequently, but alas neither one got handed down, they both went missing as far as I know. So all that said I would be a guy that would honestly want one, and would put it to use as part of a fine tradition of barlow users.

4,Why you think you should win a TC barlow: I would not say that I should. I sure do wish to. I own a few #15s, and I own a few inexpensive old Barlows, but I have no Charlows. I would carry it and use it and think fondly of everyone here on this forum and especially you very generous guys an' I would hold it and pet it and name it george..............

I have just received in the mail an amazing gift from Sarah (pertinux) My very first Charlow!!!

...Excuse me, but I must be off to start a patina. :D

I look forward to pictures of "George." :D

My favorite aspect of the TC barlows? The subtle yet deft editing of the text on many of the back labels....

Okay, serous'ly:

I am scrambled for time (still, almost always now) and was away from a keyboard [or even an iDevice for proper viewing] for the past days.

From what I can tell, good men are behaving as one might hope (if not dare expect), generosity is abounding, and Primble continues to entice and confuse.

Am I close?

I don't deserve to win a barlow.

I already often feel like I Win every time I interact with so many of you, including but not limited to the purchase, gifting, and sharing of these knives and our mutual delight therein.

Thank you.

~ P.

Wow, very well said Chris:thumbup: Rachael I can't speak for Duncan, Stephen, Mark, John, Charlie and Barry but I feel your entry is still valid---the beauty of this whole GAW is even if you have one or several TC Barlow's and per chance you win, well then you in turn can pay it forward to another well deserving recipient.

So that said, will you retract your retraction:D;)

I'd like to contribute to the GAW too. I made a Charlow bead in African Blackwood. Please add it to the GAW.
