Tc barlows & mind blowing sheath give-away**WINNERS ANNOUNCED**

Back to the etch. My original thought was actually Charlie's name. But the idea of his scripted signature is much classier. I propose Charlie's sig on one side and the founder of GEC's on the other. Make it a limited run | 1 of 25 | and call it a day.

The script would be fine and subtle. Something that you would really have to preserve to keep around.

1,What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future? A trapper/improved trapper or eo 85.

2,What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade? Not a priority for me but an Eagle with wings spread would be nice.

3,Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design? A Barlow was my first knife and it is special for that reason. I prefer a clip.

4,Why you think you should win a TC barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ). No more than anyone else.

I own one TC Barlow it is a walnut clip blade. I missed out on the triple cut bone that was in the last batch. The first Barlow that was a gift when I was very young is still with me. I think it would be cool to get a TC that is like it. brass bolster

Thanks Dave

As a more "recent" member of the forum, I want to say thanks for allowing me to participate in this thread. I have been following the numerous posts regarding the Charlows, and like many of us, have been taken in by the excitement and interest generated by this wondrous line of GEC Barlows. I hope to one day have the pleasure of handling a Charlow.

1- What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?

The GEC #66 comes to mind. A beautiful, yet simple and functional design. Any of the jacks.... but the stockmans and whittlers have always had a strong presence and I think will continue to do so.

2- What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?

I happen to like the etching on the blades. I think it adds to the appeal of the knife. As someone before me mentioned, a script in Charlie's name would be very classy. I'll second that motion.

3- Why you like the TC Barlow - in what design?

Of the Charlow photos I've seen so far, I like the clip points, but they all are very appealing.

4- Why you think you should win a TC barlow?

The clock is tickin' on us older members. We should get at least one chance in life to experience the aura of a Charlow. ( Kidding of course, but I would be honored to be responsible for the care of one.)

I know I will stand side by side with this man to hell and back:p

Yes!!! Just gaze upon the spectre of that face! The character is obvious.

Paul, you did put the matches up, didn't you?

1. What 21st century model production traditional folder besides the TC Barlow do you think will be a desirable collectible in the future?
This is really hard for me to answer. I've not collected knives very long and I'm not familiar with everyone's lines. I need to amend my previous quip as Schrade (not Taylor) is no longer in current production. I started to say they weren't that collectible but a good solid line of user knives but then I got to thinking about the three or four I've got at home that definitely are part of a "collection". They aren't taken to the woodshed everyday. They are pulled out and admired and stored for a little while longer.

I took a quick look at a few distributors web-sites and the 15's are what catch my eye. They are a convenient size, and at least the ones made for Charley have a decent pull that won't break your nails. They come in predictable handle variations and the model offerings are different enough that the size of your collection is only limited by your pocketbook and what appeals to you. I have several of Charlie's SFOs although usually only one cover of a version that appeals to me. Some I've passed on and other's I now look at and say, "I wonder if I could find one of those?"

2. What etching/graphics would you like to see on a TC Barlow blade?
I'm not sure I like etching/graphics that much. Most on Charlie's SFO's have been very tasteful and very appropriate. I like the finer ones that more announce the knife's line name or the PPP or something like that. Pictures lose their detail. Others are dark and bulky and make you wonder what it was originally intended to be, like a bad tattoo. In keeping with Charlie's upcoming birthday I think something with a tasteful fine line signature script should be done. Could we support a run of 70 rather than limiting it to 25 as others have suggested?

3. Why do you like the TC Barlow - in what design?
I like that they are a good medium size. Not too little, not too large. I like the fact that the blade pulls seem to be about a 4-5. They tend to open smoothly and easily and are not nail-breakers like the 73's are. They have nice covers on them. The coloring is deep and even. Good attention to detail. I feel like I'm getting a quality knife at a reasonable price. They also feel like I could slip them into my pocket and they would handle whatever I needed to do with them that day. They just feel "right". I can give them as gifts and feel as if I'm really getting the recipient something of lasting value, substance, and quality. And, I like the profile of the spear blades on these. I don't know what their proper name is but the popsicle profile as opposed to the Camp King profile with lots of belly.

4. Why you think you should win a TC Barlow ( this may be a hard one to answer - but give it a shot ).
Why should I win? There's no reason why I should win. I'm certainly not the foremost contributors to the forum. I probably say "I'm in" more often than "Who would like a chance at one of these?". I'm certainly not the most knowledgeable and I don't contribute the most to the forum economy. It would certainly be an honor to win though. Even if it were only one of the slips. I'm grateful to just be allowed to associate with all the stellar members of this community of knife lovers and users.

I'm confused as heck!

I go away for a couple days and come back to more stuff than I can figure out going on. That being said...

The barlow with the sheepsfoot and pen scaled in ebony is about as perfect a knife as I've ever seen. I'm not much for blade etching, but that's ok. I'd just as soon have a German scroll, but plain blades get used (at least by me).

It's been a lousy year, but things are trending up and maybe I'll get out the camera and share some stuff before too long. Gotta run down and sit on the dock for a while and unwind.

So eisman we take it you are officially in:thumbup: any other answers you can offer towards the other questions asked are much appreciated as we respect your input:thumbup::)

Of course this can wait until you return from the dock:D

YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!!!

WOW, Duncan and I rec'd a PM from Mark, aka Markesharp that he too would like to add to this fantastic GAW by contributing a TC Barlow of his own:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Mark, I think I am safe to say "Thank You" from Duncan, Stephen, Barry, Charlie, John and myself as this is a very generous offer on your part and very very much appreciated;)

Duncan's whole idea behind this GAW was for others to really get to experience how great these TC Barlow's are. Well to say the least this GAW has taken on a life of it's own:thumbup:

Thank you Mark and please post the TC Barlow and what category (owning or non owning) that you are so kindly offering in this GAW---excited, excited, excited:D

Thanks Paul.

This will be for a non owning TC Barlow contestant in your GAW. A single Spearpoint with brown jigged bone handles from Charlies first run. It has been lightly used (by me) and comes with the original packaging and tube.

Thank you Charlie and GEC for making such a great knife!

Man, I hope this doesn't scare anyone off from entering:p

:D:D:D:D:D:D:

For those that can not count past nine at night; how many Charlows are now being offered? I know of four plus Charlie's offering from the new line coming. And Barry's two beautiful slips. Am I missing any?

I think you have got it. But I also have a 5 month old that doesn't sleep. So take that with a grain of salt. :)

Lol.. I tried copying and pasting all the Charlows being offered, plus the two slips, but my 19 month old wants me to dance along to Tinker Bell. Maybe, someone else can consolidate all that is being offered into one post. Gotta go ...

Hope all have a great night.
