Team Gemini Special Edition A2 . . . . Pics!

Yep, i think they quit offering liners, same time that CS stopped taking orders

With the Backlog of orders and O2W they were swamped and needed the extra manpower in the custom shop to meet the regular orders. Liners, Hand Shaping Scales, Custom Wood and Exotic Handle materials...POOOOOF Like Kaiser Soyze Gone.

Me 2, but all the damn ebay scalpers knabbed them up. $650+ for a battlegrade on there...

At $40 more for INFI; i wish i bought five TGLBs while they were available haha
I'm sure A2 with the heat treat is great and all but... INFI is INFI

Materials probably upwards $7-8 per square inch on the steel, then it has to be roughly ground, shaped, prepped heat treated "probably by a 3rd party which cost more than in house" but they obviously have a good heat treat firm to work with. Now prep/rough cut the handles . Decent micarta and g10 is expensive, you pay say $80 for g10 handles, the material was maybe upwards of $15-20 then factor in the labor hours of grinding, handle shaping and fitting etc. Then paint, inspect and sharpen.

Pretty darn sure Busse does all machine work and heat treating in-house. Especially the proprietary HT. ;)

I think that they even used to do the blade coatings as well, but something Bossman mentioned not too long ago makes me think they might be sending out for that process these days.

I bet it would be a lot more than 40.00 more today. Everyone is forgetting how long ago they were offered.

Someone at the shop told me that they go out for coating not to long ago.

Yeah, well....the TG is a popular knife design for good reason. It's sexy, it feels good in the hand, and for collectors.....it looks mean without being gaudy.

Additionally, knives that have been in popular TV or movies tend to draw the collectors out of the woodwork......I have a Seki SOG desert dagger that I bought before Kill Bill came out.....was less than $100. That knife is now worth $300+, and it's honestly a rather useless knife, too thin, and it's a dagger. Bought it when I was in the military, but these days it has no use to me outside of sentimental value/piece of my personal history.

But because of collectors......yeah.

If I buy a bunch of these what oh whatever will I do when the TGLBLE is finally released???
