Glad there is a thread here about this system. I got in on the tail end of the Nov-Dec shipment so I am waiting, these will be the longest three weeks, but it gives me a chance to read and learn
I am really wondering the best setup for stones, I see in their videos Sergey has about 10 different stones in a bin, and honestly, I know so little about sharpening knives....I don't really even know what questions to ask.
I have ordered the Boride T2 Stones, the basic profile stones and the two diamond stones. I figure I will use them all eventually. My questions are whats really the best setup for stones?
From what I read anything below 200 is only for major repair work, then from 200 what? 400, 600,1200, 2500.....and from here I am a little lost. I have found 1 micron down to .050 diamond micron sprays for polishing. Is it better to use the paste on leather, ceramic, stone, composite, :concern:, what should I do!
Id rather stay away from sand paper, but if there are some advantages, what would they be? Whats the life of a stone?
What steps do you do through when you sharpen?
