That one knife you just cant bring yourself to use

The Ka-Bar Club 30th Anniversary USMC Gun Blue with Silver and Gold Leaf as I never thought I would be able to Acquire much less consider Using 1 of 110 Made

KEEP EM SHARP

I could not own a knife and not use it. That said, this knife is my most cherished. Obsessively. Want to keep immaculate and in my possession....... FOREVER!😲😨😒;) Very afraid of losing/hurting my beloved. Wish it would have been thicker, or wish the maker would start working on some larger/thicker blades. Its just not something i feel can use for anything, beacuse want to keep prestine. Want to carry daily but will wear out. Dont know if will get another like it.This thing stresses me out while making me feel content at same time. Ugh.

Pathetic, right?
The main reason I haven't used this since I bought it several years ago is because I wanted a Sebenza. I wanted the name, the legacy, the reputation, the quality... to see why the Sebenza has for so long been regarded as the ne plus ultra of production folding knives. Utility was not at the forefront of my decision-making process, and I had the funds. So now I gotta decide -- do I:
1) Keep it (as an investment)?
2) Keep it and force myself to use it (even though I have many similar knives)?
3) Sell it?
...or...
4) Give it away on Bladeforums? :D (I've seriously considered giving it to someone who always wanted a Sebenza but couldn't afford one; seems like a good way of giving back to the forum--though it is a $400 knife which is at this point a lot of money to me.)

Option 5 sounds better:

Give it to me and make sure it does infact get used:D;)

I've got a one off Olamic Wayfarer custom that's just so beautiful and polished that I can't bring myself to even put in my pocket, let alone take it out and beat on it. I edc a Microtech Socom Delta TE, and even with that, I'm always being careful not to rub the clip against anything or scratch it up. I guess that's the biggest thing I miss about my ZT 630. I got it used, it was already scratched and scuffed, so I put a really good edge on it and went to town.

My original Kershaw Tyrade.

It's funny, I got a G10 Tyrade when I didn't know a damn thing about knives, stumbled onto it, liked the look, so I bought it and beat that thing like a government mule. Before that my dad had given me a Buck/Strider tanto in ATS-34 for Christmas and I had done the same thing with it. Both cases I had no idea what I had at the time. I've still got the Tyrade tucked away, wish I still had the Buck.

The first is my old Scheffield Bowie. Bought with my own $ when I was a teen in the 70's. It has been used EXTENSIVELY. Now retired and used as a letter opener.

I've got several Busses, Swamp Rat, Srcapyard knives.... Very difficult pieces to replace if lost. Some of them have done heavy outdoors work. Most are used in the kitchen.

The only knife that I use that gets NO use is an Esee Izalu that was bought new, sharpened, and tossed in a "get home" bag in my car trunk.

Al Mar Shiva is the only one in my collection i dont use. Mainly because i use fixed blades for camping only and i usually have a mora for that. Im fine with it being a collectors item as well as a rainy day sell off item.

Benchmade 710-142. I intended to carry it when I bought it, but after I did for a couple days and avoided using it I put it in the safe. It's not so much the price of it, I have a couple other knives of similar price that get used all the time. I just want to keep the BM looking as good as it does now for some strange reason that I can't explain.

I have, or have owned other knives I can't bring myself to use, but those are generally things that I've won and have no use for, such as an NRA Bear & Sons damascus bowie.

I got a Tak Fukuta ,frost cutlery knife-really nice didn't pay that much but it was unused, can't bring myself to use just out of respect-I think it would be unjust to use something that has been around since the 70-80's in pristine condition.

Sounds like you've been waiting a while for that! If were you, I would keep it, maybe use it, but make it your own you know? Unless it is purely a collector piece. The thought of giving it away shows your generosity, and that is very cool.

I personally would use it, just to experience the stellar build quality every day (I do this with my own grail knife), but not with heavy use. Just my thoughts, but good luck with your decision man

While I have carried this knife once or twice, I've never used it. It was bought on my honeymoon, it was my first Case, and while I know that it is completely capable of eviscerating an apple or orange, I just can't bring myself to use such a pretty knife in that way. I've got enough knives to take over its duties, I guess.

I can't bring myself to use my Benchmade Bushcrafter 162-1501 #291 of 400. It looks used because the crap sheath always leaes gunk on it, but god is it a beaut in all of its simplicity.

Whilst not an expansive knife like some on this list I can't bring myself to use my Damascus skyline, I'm just not a fan of the skyline as much as I want to be. & if I do carry it I bring a backup blade cause I just can't bring myself to use the skyline. Maybe one day I'll cross that bridge.
