The “Can’t leave anything alone” Thread

Oh yeah, the Father's day present Strata XL is torn apart already 🤣 It needed a detent ramp, gonna make the lock side black to match the G-10 side and blast/tumble the blade with either satin or polished flats🤔

All of my knives end up thinned or reprofiled. Here's a Shirogorov F95 I posted in another thread.

1. I cut a choil into it because I hated how the factory plunge line was ground. This solved the issue of having the plunge eat into the corners of my stones while sharpening.

2. Thinned the blade down to 3.8 mm, from 4 mm. Thickness behind the edge is now ~0.3mm along the entire length. Final grind is nearly zero ground from spine to edge, with a small microbevel. The blade is much better for slicing now.

3. Darkened the blade with a soak in 12 M HCl and 30% H2O2, then shook it around in a tin of rocks. This was mostly done as a work saving step so that I would't have to polish out all of the scratches from thinning the blade, but I ended up liking how it looks.

I bought a Smock from Knives Plus. They heat anodized the liners and hardware bronze, acid and stonewashed the blade
and put a new edge on the blade. I bought the fat carbon scales from Sharp Dressed Knives and put on a heat faded
Lynch clip. The added detent removed itself when I put on the scales. Gas Station knives look out.

Tumbled the bolsters + scales on my Spyderco Hungarian. Liking this a lot better than the polished finished it came with from the factory.

What's the best way to tumble the pivot/bolster screws to get them to match, without messing up the threads or torx heads? Tape the threads and don't use media small enough to get in the heads?
