The 2 for 1 grateful giveaway. Winner!

It does my heart good to see this old BSA hatchet so well taken care of and still used regularly. What a great connection for Glenn back to Carl and Bill Moran.

Thanks for the follow up report and pics!

As a follow up to winning this amazing GAW, I thought I would provide an update.

No, I did not mod the hatchet...

I have been enjoying using it here and there, and it has proven to be a worthy companion. The Vic bit me as soon as I got it, so it's been in a time out since. However, I felt that such a fine hatchet deserved an equally fine jacket, so I contacted member John Smith (darkmatter35), with the hopes of having him make me a sheath. We went back and forth on design, and I sent the hatchet off to him for some new clothes. I didn't want anything flashy or ornate, a BSA hatchet wouldn't look like that. He finished it and sent it back to me. I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out, it was just how I wanted it.

Okay, enough yapping, here are some pics...

Once again Carl, thanks for trusting me with this fine tool, it is being well used and cared for.

Glenn

Glenn, you've just warmed an old man's heart!!! That sheath looks great and I'm so darn glad that my old hatchet is giving good service for another owner.:thumbup::thumb up:

As for the bantam, it was just a love nip to remind you to take it seriously. Peanuts do that quite a bit too!:D

Well, testament to your sharpening skills I suppose. I am glad you like the sheath, seemed only fitting.

Thanks!

That hatchet sheath looks great! Thanks for the update, glenn; I appreciate these follow-up posts!:thumbup:

Great to see an update on this memorable giveaway. The hatchet is looking good Glenn, love the new pants

Thanks for posting this Glenn,
I could tell the hatchet had been well taken care of when I was building the sheath. I'm glad to read about some of its history also. Its may seem funny but when I build a sheath I seem to make a connection with the tool. I had to laugh when you said that it bit you because it did the same to me. :) That sucker is sharp. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make your sheath.
