The 2022 Garden, Landscape, and Other Stuff Thread…

How do you eat the peppers from the freezer? We froze a bunch last year, but when I lay them on the counter to thaw out, they become real mushy. Is there a secret to keeping the texture?
I think she cleans the seeds out and par boils them before she freezes them , also we put them in the air fryer for a few before we use them .

Check that Jonny she doesn't par boil them she cuts them to size she needs then flash freeze's them on a baking sheet , then puts them in a freezer bag .
I was referring to eating veggies coming from the freezer. How do you thaw them out without them becoming mushy?

She lays them on paper towels and let's them defrost changing the towels as needed , putting them in the air fryer if necessary .

Thanks! I’ll try this. I threw a whole bag out this year because they just kept getting soggy when they thawed. Lost all its crunch. I’m gonna get Jeannie to pickle and can our peppers this year.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

Sorry couldn't resist.

I am hoping that someone can help me determine what is happening to this tree? Borers? Fungi? Something else?

It's in the woods toward the edge of our property, which is why I haven't noticed it before. Right now I am not seeing other trees that are effected, but I'm hoping to determine what it is to see if our other trees are at risk, and how to protect them! I'm in North Carolina if that effects the diagnosis.

Thanks in advance!

This wiggly, mobile thread-like worm is not one I've encountered before ... and google lens seems to send me searching roots and fatter worm species.

Ideas? Apologies ... gif too large to post, but it's a mover and shaker!

I haven't done much this year, mainly because it's been raining. April was the coldest one on record all the way back to the early 70's. We were still getting snow. Here it is June and we've had one day over 70, and one dry 2 day weekend this year. This weekend we're on track to pass the annual rainfall for the month of June (today's the 4th). May also was an above average month. I'm flat out tired of rain.

I had some shrubs that were Australian natives I planted a couple years back with the hope they would provide flowers in the winter for the hummingbirds. They died this year. Too wet. So I took a couple dwarf Rhodies I had in pots and stuck them in the raised beds. At least they should survive. Took out a tree, had another one fall in a storm, and finally got tired of waiting and had a crew come in and clean the whole yard. Took 4 guys 8 hours but it's done.

I have about 70' of fence that needs replacing and every contractor I've called is 30 days out just to bid the job. I'm not doing it myself this year, too many health issues piling on all of the sudden. The clean up and fencing is going to keep my planned walkway from happening this summer. oh well...
