The 2024 F**** K****?

BTW: Has anyone suggested a single blade GEC model 73 as this year’s Forum Knife? GEC has not done that pattern in a while, it would make a rather nice Forum Knife.

The 73 was my first GEC, back in 2008, and still remains one of my favorite patterns. I think a single blade 73 would make a good forum knife.

Or an Lamb Spey 2 blader

Like this old Butler

Great idea! PPP!

I was thinking the same thing...are hobos classified as felons?.....And felons by their nature are likely to disobey the law? Unless of course trespassing on railway property is now legally acceptable.

I've only ever known a few honest to G-d freight-train-hopping-hobos, and the ones I have known were felons, but I don't think all hobos are necessarily felons. Unfortunately, even the one hobo I met who really embraced the romance of the Hobo* was much handier with a crack-pipe than an actual Hobo-knife.

*That guy was a very interesting fellow. I met him doing day labor in my younger years, and found him fascinating. He was exceptionally well read, and basically rode freight trains from college town to college town having philosophical conversations, doing drugs, supporting himself with day-labor, and then wandering on. He was also the most physically fearless person I have ever met. We were demolishing an old shipyard, and he worked with zero regard for his own safety, but I never saw him endanger anyone else. Very interesting, very unusual guy. I liked him, but he certainly isn't someone I would hold up as any kind of positive example. Just one of those particularly memorable people you meet on life's winding road.

For those who attended BLADE this year. Was there any discussion of this year’s Forum Knife?

Ok, another random and pointless post to reach my 25 posts this year for a forum knife.

I'd like to see something that we haven't had before, or in a while at least.

If not a Whaler, how about a Sunfish?
Something on the 54?
Friction folder?

Not that I heard, though besides DLT and a few smaller dealers GEC wasn't really front and center.

I and my buddies used to hop freight cars when I was a kid. We got caught once but my buddy's dad was president of the railroad company! They let us off with a chuckle and a smile!
I’ve always wanted to but I might never get the chance. I did learn that you should not try to get on one, unless you can see the bolts on the wheels individually. If they are blurry the train is moving too fast.

An old next-door neighbor of mine had a brother with two artificial legs from trying to hop a freight.

Does anybody remember what time of year we heard about last year's forum knife?

The train we hopped on was moving pretty slowly. That sounds like good advice though. I'm afraid my train-hopping days are way behind me!
