I doubt I’ll have the chance at this point. There are no trains in my area but I’d give it a go if I had the chance. The train we hopped on was moving pretty slowly. That sounds like good advice though. I'm afraid my train-hopping days are way behind me!
It can be many number of fine companies but GEC is the best in my opinion. The rat race to get one is a pain for many and not worth their time or energy. “If” we have a knife and “if” it’s a GEC it gives the members here an outstanding shot at getting one.Why does it have to be GEC? For the potential for profit, the chance to actually get a GEC, the need to attract more buyers, the decent quality?
I understand it will most likely be a GEC model, based on what is known, but it seems that all other makers are automatically rejected by many (the silent majority is not included in this observation).
Even Boker makes a Hobo knife, that costs very little, and can be engraved with BF 2024, if people want that style of knife. Case does a prettier one too.
I've caught, cleaned, and eaten just about every species of fish in the eastern and midwest US, and much of Canada. I've never used a fish scaler. How/why are they used? How do y'all clean fish? Do you cook with the skin on? I cook trout with the skin on, but no scales there.Nothing fishy going on here but that GEC fish scaler is trout ? of the question?...who among us would akkchully use it when a five dollar fish scaler lives in the bucket?
Liking that burnt orange bone though.![]()
When we made our hard fish up north we used to descale the whitefish,as well for canning.im sure we didn't have to except for canning.I've caught, cleaned, and eaten just about every species of fish in the eastern and midwest US, and much of Canada. That's how I see it too. That was probably how many people got their first TC Barlow. I think it was Charlie's way of making it finally possible for everyone who wants one to have one. Still, some people grumbled about not having more say in the process. It can be many number of fine companies but GEC is the best in my opinion. But... my canoe is red?Deal. but they're going to be saw cut bone and absolutely, positively no red.
Hemlock Green.
I’ve never canned fish - that makes a lot of sense. Thank you. When we made our hard fish up north we used to descale the whitefish,as well for canning.im sure we didn't have to except for canning.
How about one scale red and the other green? If it is released near Christmas then it is a Holiday knife!But... my canoe is red?
Aye, almost Grinch themed..How about one scale red and the other green? If it is released near Christmas then it is a Holiday knife!
Another useless post in the books.
Oh, I like that! It would make a nice name for this year’s Forum Knife!Aye, almost Grinch themed..
Most French knives do not have the feature you want.A French made knife, so that we can all share the feeling of letting your blade slap shut against the backspring when you forgot it was a French knife. Plus, they're neat.
Most of the French knives I have do. Nothing quite as satisfying as the sound of a blade slapping a backspring. Most French knives do not have the feature you want.
A little piece of leather takes care of it. Works greatMost of the French knives I have do. Nothing quite as satisfying as the sound of a blade slapping a backspring.
I've done the leather thing with a couple GECs and Bokers with blade wrap. Right now I've been carrying a friction folding French knife so I don't have to think about it at all.A little piece of leather takes care of it. Works great
