The 2024 F**** K****?

I hate to be the one to have to say it, but several folks here have spoken to Bill many times in the past with these exact suggestions, and his response has always been along the lines of "Nah, we're good." Bill runs GEC how he wants to run it. We just deal with the waves as best we can.
I think there's really something to be said for this. It's admirable and makes me like him more.

I have never purchased a forum knife with the pattern in mind or any sort of concern over its resale value. For me, a forum knife has always been about the process which, for better or worse, has involved bringing us all together to choose a knife that represents our community here on BF. I've made impassioned arguments for some features/patterns over the years and for my part, it was in good fun. Unfortunately, it made enemies so I am not so inclined to participate in such discussions anymore. We have an uncanny ability to suck the fun right out of a process that should be about camaraderie and our community here.

Whatever is decided, I will purchase. It is my way of supporting and vaunting a community that I still value being a part of. In that respect, what knife it is and what it might fetch in a flipper's hands matters little to me.

I couldn't have said it better.

Yeah, I like the take-it-or-leave-it approach. It cuts way down on the nonsense.

I can’t remember if there’s been a 74 forum knife. But I love that pattern.

Howsabout a smaller 88. Is there one that's just a smidge smaller? I have the yeti and it just kinda sits around waiting for me to chop it apart and probably mess it up.

Something like an 88 but somewhere in between 3.5-3.75" Lambsfoot main and pen. Single spring. Opposite ends. Ebony

Sign me up.

Dr.Johannes Van Meakos postulation on knife collectibility states:
GEC forum knives are indirectly proportional to Case knives whilst simultaneously directly proportional to the incidence of flippage.

I agree..it's a hokey yet fascinating theory.

How the heck does GEC get those seams between bolsters and scales so PERFECT?!?!? I've been struggling on at least 50 knife kits I've worked on. What's their secret?

Heck, even with heat and moisture the scales change size, somehow, putting some tension on the bolster so I'm afraid they'll pop off from it. It's happend a few times to me.

Are you volunteering to make this year’s forum knife?

You don't want my skill level. I'm not qualified, yet. It's going to be a while and a lot more of those Rough Ryder stockman kits.

Otherwise, I'd love to at least be involved, even doing repetitive work, so I improve my burgeoning skills (burgeoning is putting it optimistically....)
