The 25, 21, Regular and Umnumzaan comparison photos ***VIDEO & Pics Inside***

Got my 25 in today & am very pleased! There are things I like better about my 21s but it's surely a fantastic piece. CRK all the way & easily one of the best made knives I've ever seen. It may just take some getting used to. Overall it could well be the finest Sebenza to date.

Awesome! Whats your thought on the notch? I won't see mine til Thursday...I should have done priority...damn free shipping offer!

Great comparison shots and review of the 25. Thanks for taking the time. I know this will be my next CRK.

Cheers.

IT IS HERE!

First impressions: Love it!

And I guess that notch isnt as bad as it looks in the pictures. I would prefer it to not be there but it doesnt bother me.

Somehow I managed to snap off the screw head at the back stand off. I took the knife apart because I notice I used too much lube. So, I took it apart, cleaned it up and re-lubed. I simply screwed that screw in and gave it a firm twist, and snap. I am not sure why it did that because I have taken many Sebenzas apart before and never had any screw fail. I could be at fault though and won't say it is CRK's fault. I did use a small amount of blue loc-tite the FIRST time I re-assembled the knife. I am going to guess that by doing that I added for pressure to the screw. Let me answer as to why I used Loc-Tite. Well, when I first took the knife apart, the screws were fairly hard to unscrew. That is when I noticed a white residue on the threads. I assumed that they had been loc-tighted in, so naturally I did the same. I could be totally wrong in assuming that causing me to screw it up and be without my 25 for a month.

I saw one sitting in the shelf of my local knife shop and I went apeshit crazy. If the lockbar wasn't sitting at 80% I might have been willing to pay extra (tax) to get it right away. Pictures really don't do this knife any justice, I love it.

For those of you who has it, what % if your lockbar at?

I'm probably around 75%.

Wtf!?

One thing to keep in mind is that like the Zaan the contact point for the lock bar is not the Ti face but the ceramic ball. Based on where the ball is placed then it is probably sitting pretty close to center of the blade lock face. My Zaan is sitting between 75-80% and had not budged in the last two years.

Mines at 75-80% according to the wear groove on the blade tang.

Bad luck BBQ Boy!!

I didn't notice any white residue on my threads when I took mine apart...

I doubt they used loctite on the little screws.

I cleaned the loctite off the pivot screw and didn't put any loctite on it when I reassembled it, and it hasn't moved a mm and I used it all day today!

Was your top scale super hard to get off? I had to go get a plastic putty knife and pry it off...Tight!

I was going to take some macro shots of all the little pieces that CRK had to machine and tweak to get everything so close without bumping into things, all the little pieces must have taken alot of work to get exactly right!!

I'm surprised the cost of this guy is on par with the 21, looks to me like it took more work to build!

Yea, the scale is SUPER hard to get off.

I have a preorder that I am waiting for "patiently"! Can't wait to get mine either!

I actually recorded a vid on Monday, 12/3, & have tried to upload it twice! I live totally off the grid so I have to do this kinda thing on my phone or at a coffee shop, bar, ect.. I'll try again tonight!

I think the notch is fine! It is a nice transition between the jimping and the rounded spine. If squared off a tad it would make a usable fire steel striker as well! ..a welcome bonus feature for sure!

Sorry about your luck Micheal, can't wait for mine either thanks for the pics and vid though

First off, thanks to BBQboy again for starting this thread. Here's some more shots of the 25. Just got this bad boy today. I wanted to wait, but the bday card is the same as mine, so i had to grab it!

A few thoughts about this knife....The lanyard totally gets in the way of grasping the handle. I noticed this immediately. The lanyard sits higher than the ones on other CRK models. I do like the new set up though, so really not complaining. If you like lanyards, this might bug you.

The jimping looks great, but it gives just about the same amount of traction as past jimping on the other knives in the CRK lineup. I would much more prefer the jimping on the anniversary one from Blade.

When opening the knife, the three/four fingers that rest on the lock bar side are resting on the clip(depending on how one holds the knife). I found that i am pushing off of the clip in order to create enough leverage to open the knife. On models like the 21, there is more of the lock to place your fingers. This annoys me slightly because i can feel the clip shifting while i perform an opening. Nothing major, but it takes away from the solidity of the knife.

I've also found that there are two ways(to me) to grip the knife, and one way feels like the 21. The first is the usual, regular grip, utilizing the new finger cut outs. Very comfortable, but places your hand just a tad lower on the handle. The other way is to choke up a quarter inch which moves your fingers outside the finger cut outs, resembling the 21 grasp(to me)

The cut out on top of the blade bugs the hell out of me ..does it really have to be there?!

Also, I notice that on the non lockbar side, you can see where the blade, when closed, the circular marks that are left from the washer...wondering how that's going to look with the Damascus? The washer pattern is hidden on the 21, reg and umnum(I think)

I absolutely love this knife, and i'm pointing out things that are not that big of a deal...just observations

Anyway, here's some pics.

Just got mine and only had a minute or two to look at it. Very different than the 21. This thing is the sleek and sexy older sister you wished you'd dated in the Sebenza family. The best ergos yet. I think it's a winner.
