The Anvil Shed, The spot to shoot the breeze.

Just asking, I received a buck 112 from a gentleman from church a few years back, maybe mid 2000s, I sent it for a spa treatment and it was like it never been used. I realized later that it was probably older than I thought ,it has two dots, one on either side of the 112 and there is no nail nick. I thought it was from the later 80s, but I think that it is before the date system. Any help would be appreciated as I hear about two dots a lot, what does that mean? 440C blades?

There is the word Buck over 112 with the dot on each side, over USA. 5 pins in the handle slab, 3 near the rear bolster, 1 in the middle of the slab near the top, and 1 in the middle closer to the front bolster. The sheath has a button snap with the word BUCK on it.image.jpg

From the above...

Category III, Stamped BUCK, *112*, U.S.A. 1974 to 1980.
Version 2, four brass inlay rivets

No recent knives but a 2016 Triumph Thruxton R was a very recent purchase.
So far, I've added the taller clip ons from the S model (bottom photo) and eventually it'll get a new crossover and a louder exhaust.
I should have bought one of these years ago.

I'm kinda glad my parents refused to let me ride a motorcycle when i was in high school...kept me alive. I lost 2 close friends not more than few years or so after high school from motorcycle wrecks. after that back to back loss it kept me off one. few years later I thought about a bike again and then my brother in law got hit and almost died. his friend was permanently brain damaged. both had full face helmets and titanium armor plate jackets and teflon jeans and boots full safety gear available back then. that kept me off one. I could tell story after story of bikers I know who have been killed or seriously injured. it's just too dangerous down here on a bike.

nowadays, I'm thinking about a mini bike though to go get the mail on.......guess one day I'll end up on a bike......

My neighbor across the road was hit 3x on his HD. Decided to get an HD Trike since it was bigger. Only been hit twice on it (so far). He's been riding for 40 years though. I still don't like the odds. I rode for a summer and decided there were too many people on the road that didn't pay enough attention, so I gave it up. Still get the itch some times...

I just recently sold my bike and for the first time in almost 35 years I didn’t replace it. Over the last 10 years or so I’ve been gradually losing interest in riding. Used to love it and got out every chance I got. Did a couple of multi-day trips over the years. But lately more and more I had to force myself to get out for a ride, and I just started enjoying it less and less. This year, as July was approaching and I had put a total of zero miles on the bike, I decided it was time to hang up the boots. What bothers me most is not missing it. I’m actually more relieved than anything, so I guess that right there says something.

I got my first Harley when I was 16 years old in 1964, and I've been riding up until I retired 11 years ago. I just gave my 2005 Electraglide, with 100,000 miles on it, to our one son last Summer. The arthritis in my legs was getting pretty bad, and when I'd come to a stop, I wasn't sure if my legs were going to hold me up, so I parked it before I had a crash landing. My son put a new battery in it, changed the oil & has been riding it ever since. He gave his old Harley Fat Boy to his son-in-law. I used to call him the fat white boy on a black Fat Boy.:)

This is probably in another thread, did they stop…maybe just an intermission… the Pro series in the fixed blades? Green micarta handles and s30v.

The 100 series pro models with S35VN and micarta handles were discontinued in 2024. If you are looking for one for you collection you might want to grab them soon before they become more scarce.

Not sure if this the correct place to ask, but did David Yellow horse or his son make anything with a flint knapped steel blade in his designs? I am sure I have see some of their pieces with it.

IIRC, David Yellowhorse is one of the original creators of the chipped/knapped blade.
Here's a thread I started...
