The Ash1 is timeless

I think functionality at a given thickness is significantly affected by blade finish and grind. I love my satin, zero convexed NMSFNO but seriously doubt I'd have anywhere near as much functionality with the same blade coated and v-ground.

No arguments here, Rob. I have eleven of them... I think. But have noticed that fewer of them come up for sale on the Exchange than say, one year ago. And I need more.

I think it would be easier to discuss the knives that wouldn't be a timeless classic. Can't think of any,

Man, I absolutely LOVE my ASH1 BG.
My favorite Busse thus far. I like her even moreso than my Ratweiler. She's a nimble brute if that makes sense :)

Pretty sure it was an ad for a Sh1 from the late 80s-90s

I just like my SH1....

Don't know anything about this Ash though...

What don't you guys like about the ASH 1? I have never owned one. I like the looks but don't think it would be very functional so i don't plan on picking one up.

EDIT: By functional i mean in a bush craft sense. Also, in a fighting/soldier knife i would prefer something bigger or something much lighter for the ASH 1's size.

Have to admit that I never used one, just handled/fondled one after buying it at Blade 2007. Wasn't crazy about the handle on that blade, although it works for me on the SHBM. Go figure. Also, 6" blades seem less useful to me than either a shorter or longer. IIRC the only 6" inchers left here are a SHSJ and a BOSS Jack. Both skinny of course. And I would take a Desert Jack if teh price was right, because it looks so good.

Since soldiers don't actually fight with a knife, from what I read it seems that an ASH1 would be a good soldiers knife; busting crates, cutting wire, chopping holes in things.

I really liked the BG-ASH1. The handle was outstanding, but ultimately I couldn't get past the thickness against length of blade issue. .25" works on a larger blade like the Dogfather etc, but just seems out of whack on the BG-ASH1. I'd love to try a skinny one day, but INFI tends to be out of my price range most of the time.

Timeless classics? The RMD and TGLB for certain, and like clampdaddy said, I think the SOB will get there eventually. Love mine.

Love the Ash1s, got rid of the BGs, to get More INFI, at 5 now, always looking for more....

Yeah I stripped all her battle scars. Kinda regret it but it looks "clean" now. I've never put a blade through as much punishment as my Fat ASH-1.

Ive cut and chopped more steel and abrasive materials with my ASH than any other blade ive ever owned. Its an absolute forever blade. Drop dead sexy......timeless design.......full flat grind........and made from INFI........Awwwwwww Yeah!!!!

She looks just as beautiful now as she did all beat up :)

The Fusion Steel Heart, Heavy Heart Fusion Steel Heart, Straight Handle Battle Mistress, and Fusion Battle Mistress.
This. FSH is the icon.
I actually like the ASH-1 series also; I'll probably pick one up one of these days. Too many knives, not enough knife money.

Yes, I know of this fellow. I do get one ahead of him now and again. Especially when he's in "the bush." Think its about time for another trip, eh Andy?
