The "Ask Jo (NinJO) Thread"

Welp, I never took you for the Liberace of the knife world (figuratively speaking of course!) but I think that you are a genius in many ways with a curious mind and zest for knowledge. Now enough of this pedestal placement so let's knock you down a bit for your own good: anytime you wanna a flamboyant jacket for your own Blade cover, I'll chip in to have you measured at the Versace store 🥳

Oh Ask NinJo a Q: Jo will you swap your Leak for the CPK-Folder if & when to make Nathan and the rest of us really happy? :)

Yes. And I currently carry the new folder Nathan bought me at Blade Show. He had not given it to me before the cutting competition. 😂

Also, I tend to try to carry one of my trusty Kershaws when I worry that I might leave my knife behind. It's dependable but not the end of the world if I lose it.
Same reason I tend to recommend Kershaws for folks asking for '1st folder' recommendations.

They're inexpensive, and decent for the price. For most folks, it's all they need. For the ones who fall down the rabbit hole, they can decide how deep they want to go from there 😂

And especially for small hands, I love the assisted opening.

ETA My first one had a mammoth tooth scale and honestly that was the first thing that caught my eye. Add that to the assistant opener and between being pretty and easy to use it was an opener for me.

The assisted opening is another reason I recommend them (especially for women, who tend to be less inclined to spend hours practicing flicking their knives open 😂).

I just gave some necessary maintenance to my Kershaw Leek that I've had since 2008. I like it for cardboard and package opening, it's thin behind the edge which helps -- I don't have to baby it since its relatively low value, and its dead easy to touch up.

The only other folder I have is a Hinderer Half-Track, but I treat it like more of a fidget toy, because frankly its too thick to be a good user for my needs.

Jo, can you please shed some light on why Antique Micarta isn't being offered on at least the Signature Series SDFK (I understand not offering on the basic series). Are you near the end of your supply? Is there a minimum number of scales that need to be made for each run of each color? Thanks for the info! Was really hoping for this option, as I am sure a lot of others were as well. 😭
