I certainly like the look of the swedge on the EDC3.
Any thoughts on how much “slicier” the front portion of the blade is in real terms?
It really won't be any slicier, but it may be slightly better as a stabbing weapon (someone did use one in self defense in a serious dog attack) but to me the main benefit is the way the blade rides around the inside on a pipe or tube when deburring it. This is probably not something that on people's radar but a sharp spine, when laid against a work piece being hollowed out tends to ride in the bumps left over from the cut, a swedge skis over these better and cuts smoother. For me, that's why I like them, other people like them for other reasons.
