The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

It was the handle and scale shapes on the Field knives and Choppers that made me interested in CPK knives. The different heat treat was also interesting. I never thought of scale materials in helping shock absorption feel, but now that I think about it, that makes sense.

Ben and Sue both run TT with rubber inlay. Jo runs solid ebonite.

Grippy with good shock absorption

Hand retention comes primarily from geometry

Second from material

Texture is last. They're actually pretty smooth.

These knives have more world and national titles on them then anything in the industry, by a lot.

None of those scales options were available for the past CC pre-order though, correct?

I misremembered, it's micarta and rubber.

I found this when I searched for "micarta and rubber". It is from a post from DrBC in Photos! Post your CPK photos! thread.

Yup. I’ve got one of these Behemothers with the rare micarta and rubber inlay scales. They’re probably my favorite of all the chopper scales (I’ve tried ebonite, and mostly stick to TeroTuf for the choppers).

I asked Nate if he’d make more of the rubber inlay scales with the new choppers. He more or less said, “Never again” 😅😭

That said, the Competition Chopper handles are a bit different than the regular chopper handles, and I’ve never seen rubber inlay scales for those (and hadn’t heard of TeroTuf + rubber inlay scales he mistakenly mentioned).
